Hi everyone,
I am about to send the remaining money for my surgery to Thailand. I had planned to send a SWIFT transfer from my bank, but I am a bit nervous about how long it will take. I fly to Thailand on the 26th and there are only 10 banking days. My bank said it should be fine, but that it depends on the recipient bank. Does anyone have any idea with how long does it take typically to send a SWIFT transfer to Dr. Chettawut? Given how close my actual surgery date is, would i be better to send the money via Western Union and pay the 4% service fee?
Thank you for your advice.
Mary
Hello Mary,
I can only speak from personal experience. When I did my transfer to Chett's bank I received a notification within a day that it had successfully gone through. This was about 3 weeks ago. I have read elsewhere on this board that the usual person in charge of talking to English patients is currently on leave so there may be an added delay.
I will be having my SRS on the 21st and stay at the Bangkok Rama in a standard room. What about you?
Looking forward to the pain...
When I transferred money for my partners SRS last month it took about 3 days (from an Australian Bank).
Ms Som seems to be back as she wrote a letter yesterday to another SRS patient who is currently in Bangkok recovering from SRS. Som did not deliver it in person - their nurse and the other admin person did.
Update:
Nurses Cee and Noi have just visited my partner. They said Som is in the US until 24th of April.
Thank you very much. I feel a little bit calmer now. I will send the bank transfer tomorrow, as soon as I can.
I'm arriving on 27.04 and will be having surgery on 1.05. I will be staying in the Bangkok Rama as well. I hope to get a cottage, but everything is very last minute for me, so I will take what I can get :)
Hi Mary,
Firstly good luck with your surgery, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful experience with Dr Chett :) I am here now having had my SRS on March 31st. Most of Dr Chetts patients who stay at The Rama get a cottage and the hotel is hardly full :)
If you are coming here alone then please make sure you prepare well in the few days before the op. Once they bring you back to the hotel you won't be able to go shopping for at least 2 weeks and Tesco Lotus is a good long walk for a post op. Even the Rama Restaurant is too far to walk for at least 10 days once you're back. You need a good supply of water because the hotel only give you about 1 litre a day, Another thing you can buy from Tesco Lotus is Incontinence Pants, 220 Baht for 8 but a larger pack is cheaper per pad. It's really possible once the catheter comes out you won't be able to control your bladder for a day or 2. If you send either myself or Bernadette a private message we can give you further ideas dependent upon what type of food you plan on eating.
Again good luck

My transfer to Dr. Chettawut was complete, and verified by his office, within 36 hours.
