Title: Got some hair removed and there were scars underneath! :(
Post by: Jean24 on April 09, 2015, 02:57:40 PM
I guess over the years I've been a little bit reckless and now the scars are visible to prove it! So how can I get them removed? They're on my legs if that helps, thanks guys! :)

I had a couple of really dark scars on my leg that only bothered me after I was done with LHR.  I got a tattoo to cover them.  :)  Another option was getting skin-pigment tattoo over them (permanent makeup), but I tan really easy so I knew it wouldn't blend right.

It depends what kind of scars they are I think.  If it's raised, sometimes dermabrasion will help, or an AHA lotion.  Some types can be re-healed by a dermatologist to make them lighter, like using cryotherapy to force the body to redo the skin.

If they're like gaps like stretch marks though, though I'm really not sure.  Sadly HRT's fat redistribution has given me a few of those, but at least they're on my upper legs.  Anyone have a proven stretch mark therapy? :P

For smooth scars you can try a full coverage concealer like Duracover or Dermablend, who sell a foundation for legs:

I see "airbrushed legs" options in drug stores now, which might be an option, but I've never tried them.

If I'm not mistaken, there are laser scar removal treatments.  Mind if I ask, what treatment did you have on your legs that caused the scarring (was it laser hair removal or electrolysis)?

I'm pretty sure dex is correct about laser removal - guess it depends on the scar but it is apparently reasonably effective.

I have a huge scar on my left shin from an accident when I was a kid, about five years old - I was playing "king of the castle" with the girl next door, I guess she didn't appreciate being the "dirty racal" and pushed me off the rock I was standing on. Yow that left a mark!!

Medical Laser can be really effective I understand for many skin / flesh issues, I guess it would depend on the depth of scar tissue. I am looking at it for Sun and Aging of my nose and lower face. I am under a Dermatologist and has given me a Dr to go see about it, just been waiting for an income stream to go see, but according to claims from Various Dr's who specialize in Laser therapy, they claim (with reservations) that the results are very encouraging for many issues....
May the force be with you

I wear my scars with pride. Every one of them is from an obstacle overcome, or a lesson learned. Scars are nothing to be upset about...they're proof that you were stronger than whatever got ahold of you.  :)
