Title: Medical expenses abroad on US tax returns
Post by: charlotte15 on April 12, 2015, 08:18:10 PM
If you pay your taxes in the US, is it possible to claim FFS as a deductible medical expense? What if it is done abroad?

If anyone did this, a small summary or some links would be really appreciated.

The IRS has a complete guide but not surprisingly they do not say that the procedures have to be done by a U.S. Physician.

They do have to be medically necessary, however and with foreign medical treatment that may prove more difficult.

The cap at 10% of my taxable income won't do much I'm afraid. Not enough taxable income :-(
