Title: Any exercises to make my pelvis wider?
Post by: Annaiyah on April 15, 2015, 07:29:46 AM
Hi ladies,

I'm here wondering if there exist any exercise regimen to tilt my pelvic bone into the female position. I've heard squatting can help but i have learned genetic women do that (pregnant women particularly) to adjust the pelvis accommodate the unborn fetus.

The 'V'-like outline of my manly pelvic bone bothers the living hell out of me, and it's even more of a bother to me to know that it apparently can't be moved to the female position... on HRT.

"making it wider" and "tilting it into a female position" aren't the same thing - which is good news, because the former is unlikely on anyone past puberty, but the latter is basically just a matter of posture. :)

Personally, I found that HRT did make my butt bigger and shift my center of gravity enough that standing with my pelvis tilted more was both comfortable and natural (I have to try if I want to straighten up fully, and it's a strain), but I'd imagine that you could practice doing so until your muscles were familiar with that position and comfortable in it.

Sorry but your bones are already fused together if you're past puberty

Hmm, let me try to explain it differently. Making the pelvis wider means stretching it horizontally within the body - that is, making the distance from one hipbone to the other larger. (Or I assume that's what you mean; it could also mean making it taller [more distance from groin to top of hipbone] or widening the opening [the way it does in women about to give birth] but those are not usually what people mean when they say this.) That doesn't happen once bones are fused into position, any more than you can make your leg bones longer once they're done growing.

Tilting it into a female position just means holding a posture so that your back is a little more arched (more curve at the bottom of your spine to the beginning of the buttocks and the coccyx) and the bottom of your pelvis is tipped more forward.  Women generally have a naturally greater anterior pelvic tilt than men, though there's actually overlap within the ranges, if that makes you feel any better - even the "male" pelvis often tilts to a degree that would be considered on the low end of normal for a woman.

Hey, that photo also explains why I'm shorter now. ;)

I see the posture of a female tilt as standing upright and having your back arched and your butt sticking out all the time.  To widen the pelvis bones is not really possible but you can do some exercises (such as squats and stepping lunges) to increase the muscles in the hips and butt giving the appearance of more feminine hips if that's what your going for.

Here is a link to an example page with exercises you can uses for just that:
