Title: Binders and questions involving them
Post by: BenKenobi on April 18, 2015, 08:18:53 PM
Well, I got my binders today  ;D When I opened the package, I was a bit shocked tbh. They looked so small and I was wondering if I even got the right size (extra small, I'm a tiny person).

After much...struggle of getting the sucker on, I'm starting to more or less get used to it. I'm just lounging/walking around, taking deep breaths. Just..you know, wearing it in. It looks a bit...off when I am shirtless because I have somewhat of a gut. Not a lot but enough to bother me.

Question time:
Can binders be worn while working out? I go to the gym twice a week. I don't mind not wearing them BUT I have a feeling this is a right pain in the butt to get out of and I'm a "get up and go" type of person. So the less time doing something, the better.

How have you adjusted to these? Are they supposed to be this annoying or did I get the size too small?

don't work out in them, it's unsafe. they take awhile to get used to but as you wear it, it will stretch out more and make it a bit more comfortable. as long as you measured right, it should be the right size.

Thanks. I figured they weren't but I just wanted to be sure. Thank you for the response.

Negative for the working out. They restrict your ability to breathe well, so anything that gets you breathing heavily and gets your heart rate up would be a bad idea to do while binding. You could always adjust your schedule so that you go to the gym at the very end or very beginning of the day.

It may be too small? It's hard to say. There is an adjustment period. The first binder I ever bought was the wrong size and I went with it because I definitely wasn't the next size up. Turns out I am between sizes, and the best thing I could do was get the next size up and run it through the wash and dry it. It may be the same for you. Maybe measure again and see what the sizes are on the next size up.

They are pretty annoying though, so there's a good chance you got the right size.

It honestly depends how you feel about using them. I signed up to my gym as a male, therefore I had not choice but to present as male so I wore my binder.

I havent had any issues, but Im usually on weights and not cardio. I think if you focue heavily on cardio it would definitely be an impedement to your health because it exerts more pressure on your heart. I usually have my binder on for sports and stuff too but my exercise regime is no longer than an 1.5hrs and I take my binder off straight after any session.

It sounds like your binder is really tight though, mine is an old one ive had for a while so its not as compressive as a new one. Medically its probably not wise, but I do it.

My trainer really works me. We do a mix of everything so I'm thinking it's best not to use it then. And I signed up as female so thats a whole different mess

Definitely dont work out in binders. That's really dangerous. For an alternative, just wear a sports bra.
