This is something that have yet to be resolved as there is not a "legit" set of pronouns that doesn't suffer from one of at least these listed problems.
- Too odd-sounding
- Too strange to write
- Causing confusion on whether it's a name or not
The closest that I have seen which is close to "legitimate" and doesn't suffer from the problem is a mix of the Elverson and Spivak Pronoun with a little modification.
Elverson (1975) Ey laughed - I called em - Eir eyes gleam - That is eirs - Ey likes eirself
Spivak (1983) E laughed - I called Em - Eir eyes gleam - That is Eirs - E likes Emself
Elverson-Spivak E laughed - I called em - Eir eyes gleam - That is eirs - E likes eirself
The problem with this set of pronoun is that em would be confused as M or possibly a mysterious dude dubbed "M", and E would be confused as the nickname of a mysterious person being known as E. Pronouncing it without the th in their takes practice, but that's no big deal, and it sounds quite natural. These pronouns however, doesn't look quite natural in writing, but all in all, that's a problem associated with most other proposed pronouns, but at least one can adapt well to the looks of those pronouns as it doesn't look like a set of names or something. It just that Elverson-Spivak doesn't have the issue of sounding unnatural for the most part, so those pronouns does sounds "legitimate".
So, what do you make of this?

Elverson-Spivak E laughed - I called
eim - Eir eyes gleam - That is eirs - E likes eirself
Em is replaced with eim, and the Em problem is solved. Now, something has to be done about the E. I was thinking E can be replaced with Ei, but that looks weird. Nothing gets solved with the E.
