Hi guys, so my school is hosting a semi-formal and I want to dress up in a suit. Im currently going to a single-sex catholic school but I asked my teacher if I could wear an outfit with pants instead of a dress and she said most likely it's gonna be allowed. So I've been planning out my outfit and I really want to wear a bow-tie and I was thinking of wearing an all-black outfit with this bright red bow-tie that I have. Do you guys have any suggestions where I could get myself a plain black blazer and pants made of light material? I'm really small and fit into around 12-13 yr sizes in H&M boys section. I'm 5'2.5'' and kind of a skinny build with around a 32'' chest if that helps. I dunno where to check other than h&m (they dont have black blazers atm), Uniqlo (their mens XS is too big so I could get their women's but would rather not), and Burlington Coat factory (I tried lots of suits on but they're too baggy and not made of good material; i need a slim fit suit). Thanks guys. All suggestions are welcome.
If you can swing it, see if you can get a suit that is fitted. You don't have to go to great lengths, but most good places will make some adjustments to a suit that is almost right but needs a few nips and tucks. If you were grown, I'd say to get one that you could keep for other occasions, but if you are still growing, you are better off in the mid range.
Man, I wish I could have worn a suit to our 8th grade dinner dance. My folks made me go and wear a dress. Being completely clueless on female dress, I didn't know you had to wear a slip. After the dance, I was standing outside with everyone else waiting for rides and in the headlights of several cars. One girl came up to me and told me to move out of the light because they could all see through my dress. Funny now, fall through the floor embarrassing then.
Get something you are comfortable in. Burlington used to do some adjusting if you bought a suit. They may still do that for you, if not free than for a modest price.

You could try places like Gap, Macy's, JCPenney, or Kohl's (ordered by price range from highest to lowest) if you have any where you live. Those stores always have great men's dress pants and they usually have suits and blazers too, even in the youth sections, so you should be able to find something at one of those.
Honestly if its semi-formal I wouldnt wear a full on suit. It sounds more smart-casual. The top half sounds good but I'd wear dark jeans and black trainers/suede shoes. Try not to over-do the masculine if itsa single-sex catholic do, it may cause rifts and thats never going to be pleasant.
If you're in the UK i'd go to Asda/tesco and go into the school wear section. They have generic school blazers in there and they are aimed at looking a little slimmer and trendy.
primark is a godsend.
New look (but itll be expensive), Topman (even more expensive), peacocks.
I went to my prom in a white tux/suit thing. I got the jacket from matalan (online though) and i wore white jeans and white hy-tops. with a red shirt and a white tie and suspenders. Not gonna lie i was looking tres sexy.
If you cant quite get the right size go to a cheap tailors. and get it adjusted a little!
Good luck with it

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm planning to wear a blazer with a pair of black chinos and I already have a black shirt. I'm gonna go shopping to my local Macy's and check out their blazers. What kind of blazers should I look for material or style-wise?
Bump (sorry if I'm not allowed to do this), but does anyone recommend types of blazers for a semi-formal? Thanks :)
