When I get to the stage where I legally change my name , would it be okay to change my middle name from Lee to Leelah in honor of the Leelah Alcorn (I am asking the TG community and not her parents because I think the misunderstanding and cruelty of her parents precipitated her suicide) How does Rachel Leelah Green (not my current last name) sound to you?
If that's what you want to do you should do it :)
I believe that the chance to choose our own name is one of the truly positive parts of being transgender, and that we each owe it to ourselves to choose one that has true meaning to us. It doesn't have to be deep or spiritual but it should have a meaning even if it's just to oneself.
And taking the name of someone who is lost to us to remember and honor that person and there loss certainly qualifies.

The most important thing about a name change is how well it fits you. Whether you have a specific reason or just like the name, as long as you are comfortable with it, its ok.

Very respectful of you :) Can't comment on the politics though... Nice ring to it

I think it's beautiful.
that's an awesome name
That's a good name for awesome reasons. I say go for it.
I think it makes perfect sense, and is a worthwhile thing to do. I took two saint names when I changed my name however many years ago. It's the same idea - you're honoring someone who means something to you. :)
I like the name.
