Title: how addicted are you to buying dresses
Post by: stephaniec on April 26, 2015, 07:19:33 PM
I'm finding I might have to find a support group to stop me from buying dresses. Every time I go to Target for something I end up sifting through the clearance rack and getting one or two things. Today I found these two really cute dresses and my hands couldn't stop putting them in my cart. I think I could be a dressaholic . ever since going full throttle I can't keep my mind off a the idea of needing another dress.

VERY!

Before I wasn't too much when I was not passable. I had the mentality of "What's the use I buy nice brandy expensive clothes when they clock me" but recently since I'm a bit more passable I started getting addicted to buy clothes to the point it's hindering and delaying my next surgeries as all money is draining off in expensive clothes, shoes & brandy accessories. I'm always getting drowned in Louis Vuitton, Gucci & Chanel.

I tend to end up with business suits with a pencil skirt rather than pants or a dress with coordinating jacket. I have large breasts (YEA!) and large arms (BOOO!) so the jacket is necessary.

I think it is the same idea - expressing femininity...  I also think I dress in a way that is reflective of what I am going to be doing and my mood.  I do a lot of things and my mood seems almost infinitely variable.  :-\ Between those three things (femininity, activity and mood) I buy way to much....

But who can resist a good bargain???

Jen

Buying? Not so much..

Making them? Yeah, I'm guilty of that.. Here's one I made for a wedding..

Can't really get into dresses and skirts. I have a few, but the last one I bought was 10 years ago when I got one for a particular function. I'd rather stick with jeans.

I was on a terror for three years.  And then got stopped dead in my tracks.

I got a new job.  And have to dress up every day.  I don't like it any more than when I used to wear men's suits.  Now, I go shopping for clothes, don't like what I buy, and whimper over the casual clothes I'd love to have but can't afford.  It almost feels like the old days all over again.

No, this isn't a good solution.  Perhaps a support group is the right answer...

I'm very addicted but my tastes are particular and have a hard time finding a good dress. My real problem is with mini skirts. That I could use a support group for.

I would love to learn how to sew my own dresses and skirts. I don't have the time to learn properly. I would like to learn enough to repair what I have.

Nice Kelly... so clever too  :-*
Wish I was handy that way.

As for the topic... yeah building my wardrobe, dresses are always on the want list, bought a really nice evening dress on sale the other day, will post a piccie when I take one... But getting a few now.. luckily being out of work and living off gradually dwindling savings is stopping me from going crazy with a spending sprees...

Starting to look at shoes now too... Behave myself!

L Katy :-* (I just love buying clothes)

Lovely pic, Kelly! Love the dress too - purple is a fave colour of mine, that's for sure.

I enjoy buying them but have had to curb my enthusiasm (rather than addiction) in order to clamp down on expenses. As soon as I get another job though, look out!!

Cindy returns from grocery shopping that somehow has included a new pair of boots, a dress and a pair of earrings.

very... i love clothes shopping, but my shoe shopping addiction is stronger. I love high heels.. i also love lingerie shopping too and i have a large collection... i love to wear sexy lingerie under my outfits..  as that something just for me.. ok i do model it for my boyfriend too.. but that is in the privacy of home.

I love to wear a dress/skirt, especially in the summer months..

But I will admit.. my grocery shopping trips don't turn into clothes shopping trips.

I went on a dress binge a few weeks ago and my bank account is still recovering. =P they were cute and I needed a few nice but conservative dresses for interviews.

Very!
I window shop on Amazon all the time. Its very difficult to not click buy.
I love dresses and skirts and will not wear anything else. Even in winter I was still wearing skirts and dresses. A girl at the store asked me if I was cold. I told her no, I've got leggings on underneath.

Not all girls do. There are plenty of girls that only wear pants or shorts. More power to them. But after wearing boring male clothes for 32 years I'm wearing dresses and skirts thank you very much!  ;D

^^THIS!!  :)

I really love dresses, but it's tough to find the right dresses for me, which is an issue all girls face.  I'm a size 16 up top and a 12 on the bottom, so most dresses don't look good on me. My favorite look right now is a-line skirts with a dark top and cute flats.  I get a very female silhouette with that combination.

In a perfect world I'd be able to dress like Zooey Deschannel. (https://www.google.com/search?q=zooey+deschanel&rlz=1CASMAE_enUS629US629&es_sm=93&biw=1366&bih=633&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=ehU_VcrQH4uXoQScpYD4Dw&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ#tbm=isch&q=zooey+deschanel+fashion)  Sigh...maybe someday.

Agree on the A Line dresses / skirts... Also got an evening dress late last week, pulls in around the waist but hangs (flares slightly) across the hips and top... makes me feel a million dollars!
I buy 14's (AU 14), tighter on top, nice waist fit and a little looser around hips and bum, probably size AU13 across hips...

Unfortunately my body fat re-distribution stopped at the waist, wishing for the bit of muffin to drop down to my hips and bum, even a tiny bit would help :P

I'm a huge clothes hoarder.
I at last count had over 200 dresses, so many that I had a 4 bedroom place, one of the rooms is a walk in wardrobe, plus a heap of clothes in the shed which is set up as a wardrobe as well.
My friends think I'm nuts

Of course you can't by a dress without the shoes. I suppose you could, but I think it's more fun getting the shoes to go with it too.

The only thing holding me back with shoes is money. I'm still trying to recover financially after coming out last year without dipping into my savings. Its frustratingly slow to pay all that off and still save money.
