Well , good personal news for me. The doctors office of the surgeon that I'm thinking about just emailed me and said I can use Medicare and a Medicare supplemental insurance I just got today to pay for the operation if I decide to go ahead. Yippi
That's terrific news Stephanie. Hopefully this opens the door for many others on here that are on medicare too. Congrats. Good luck and Hugs

That's great - last I'd heard you were pretty sure it didn't.
That's awesome, Stephanie!

well, they told me that Medicare would take care of 80% , but they would do it with out a supplemental because they couldn't estimate all the other costs that could happen such as the hospital fees, The surgeon they knew the 80% , but not all the others. I didn't think I could afford the supplemental , but its not bad.

yea, the Medicare is like the other insurance companies with the 80-20. It will definitely help others.
Indeed, they are. I had a feeling that was the case because I have a relative who is on Medicare with supplemental and all of sudden was referred to a particular surgeon for SRS that that they are aligned with. She has been stuck like so many here because no one excepted it before.

Great news! I'm sure everything will go well.
That's so awesome, Stephanie! I have Medicaid, but yay for the Medicare people! ^_^
Woo! Congrats Steph :D
Just curious, since you said medicare, I'm assuming you are seeing a surgeon from Australia? I'm also starting to look into GRS and I have medicare as well so I'm just a little curious.
I wish then I could party with all the Aussie's , but as fate would have it I'm seeing a surgeon in Chicago.
