So ummm, I guess this is my reintroduction!! :)
Hi, I'm Sophie (at least that's what I go by on here for now), I'm 19, from the UK and very much in the closet. I posted on here last summer (almost a year ago now... crazy!!) asking about whether I was actually transgender or not. The outcome of that was deciding I should seek some kind of therapy... I still haven't. :(
I haven't sought out therapy yet for many reasons: uni work, money, having a girlfriend (who I adore and doesn't know) and the general fear of doing so!! My biggest worry is that I may not be transgender. If I come out and then realise I'm not Trans, it very well could ruin my life :(
Like I said on my previous thread, there has not been a day in my life when I haven't wished I was a girl at some point, that said I don't hate being a guy either which makes me worry that I may not be transgender and that these feelings may go away in the future. I have never fully dressed up (never worn a wig or full makeup) and I really, really want to but I can't at the moment.
I really want to be certain about my gender identity so I can either either act on it or just move on.
Sorry this post turned out to be so long and similar to the previous one mentioned!! :)
xx

Hi Sophie,
Welcome. The "am I trans?" question can be difficult to answer for a lot of people, even if the answer eventually is a resounding yes. You're still very young so, no matter what you ultimately decide, I seriously doubt that it would ruin your life. Regarding your girlfriend, that's tough but actually a lot of married, "straight" women will make exceptions when their SOs come out to them so, all hope may not be lost! That said, whether with this girl or one subsequent, make sure that you put your efforts into a relationship in which you and your girlfriend are mutually supportive of one another.
I certainly can't tell you if you're transgender, no one can, but the fact that you're questioning it suggests that it is the most likely outcome. Cisgender people don't really question their gender...
Anyway, I look forward to your posts. You should definitely bug peope on here about their experiences and whatnot. It might also help to make a list of "reasons I think I might be trans" and "reasons I think I might NOT be trans." Comparing the two could provide insight.
Cheers!
Thank you so much Ian!! When I refer to ruining my life I also mean if I transition and then regret it which is a big concern of mine :(
As for my girlfriend, I know that even if she doesn't accept it we'll remain friends as we're best friends as it is!! :)
I'll definitely get around to bugging people here!! ;) and I'm definitely going to start making a list, thank you so much :)
xx
Sure thing, Sophie, just let us know when/ how we can help. :)
Welcome back Sophie... guess you know your way around ;)

Hiya VM, thanks for the introduction!! I'm glad to be back and I don't anticipate leaving any time soon!! ;) xx
Welcome back.
I hope you can get access to a gender therapist.
Hiya Cynthia, sadly I feel that accessing a gender therapist may yet be a few years away :(
For now I'm going to be focusing on my exams and after that I'll probably explore crossdressing more (purchase a wig, make-up and some clothes) and then maybe after university I'll look in to seeing a gender therapist, since it's kind of expensive on a student budget :(
