Any transgender support groups in Oregon? I'm MTF middle aged and looking for support of coming out. looking for resources for laser, HRT referral, and counselling.
I need counseling but can only do it at night... anything available like that?
Hi Meganmichelle, Welcome to Susan's. I'm not familiar with any, but I'm sure someone from Oregon will be around soon to point in the direction of one. I look forward to seeing you around the site. Good luck and Hugs
Mariah

Eugene or Corvallis? (college towns, you know) Closer than Portland, anyway. In any case, contact the Portland group because they will know about every other support group in the state. Also, if Grants Pass, or any of the surrounding larger towns, has an LBG organization they could probably provide some information.
I've emailed some people and i am trying to find some closer :). between Corvallis and Eugene. i'd prefer Corvallis lol.
Hi Megan,
Yes, there are a few active groups and, of course, Portland has the most going on. There is the Q Center, NW Gender Alliance and Basic Rights Oregon in Portland which is also home to the infamous TGirls social club. Salem has a Salem Transgender Network, Astoria has a new Lower Columbia Q Center and Gender Alliance, There are PFLAG groups all over and the Universities have local LGBTQ groups. Transgender Oregon Network is on Facebook as are a number of special interest and by invitation meet up sites. We had the first openly transgender elected Mayor, Stu Rasmussen. I like being part of the LGBTQ world here and hang out with several groups including the Rosetown Ramblers, a square dancing club. Lots happening if you look for it. Those PDX groups also maintain lists of medical and mental health providers. Some trans people get counseling by Skpe when they are very rural.
I am often at the coast near Astoria or in Portlandia helping to keep it weird ;D I love the NW and you know this rainforest has some fresh storms blowing in right now. PM me for more.
