Title: Ankylosing Spondylitis
Post by: Jessica_M on May 03, 2015, 06:01:34 PM
Hi girls,

Just wondering if anyone else here has this condition. I have it, but I'm lucky to not be a severe case, yet saying that I do have to keep on top of it, eat well and stay in shape. I guess the one thing that does concern me is if HRT may react with it. I'm no doctor so I might be completely off track, but I thought it'd be good to hear it from someone who has the condition, yet has/hasn't found that HRT has had any effects.

Odd question I know, but I'm hoping to find someone who can shed some light

Jessica, health conditions are always taken into consideration when a person is put on and maintained on HRT. I would recommend you ask your doctor because they tell you more in regards to your situation. For example my having had seizures 2 years before resulted in them being even more careful with the dosage coming in just to make sure it didn't result in seizures. Good luck and hugs

Curious question, has it affected your eyesight yet? I read that E can help with eyesight.

Eyesight is good so far, yet I've always worn glasses

It isn't the glasses thing. I've had those since age 11. It is the seeing everything through fog and the light sensitivity that kill me. I can't read anymore and driving is very tricky, especially at night or in bad weather.

So I'm guessing you have AS too? If so did you find the Estrogen helped at all? Also I've got an appointment next week to have an assessment for laser eye surgery. I've been keen to do it for a long time, but I've probably been a bit scared. The fact that it's all over and done with in a matter of seconds makes it seem better though

I am going the other way. The eye sight has gotten worse but the cause, who can say.
