Title: Made some wine
Post by: Devlyn on May 03, 2015, 06:31:33 PM
I started a gallon of dandelion wine today and a gallon of burnt honey mead, or bochet. The mead left some battle scars on my fingers and hands. It was spitting a lot of molten sugar around at the end.

"Dandelion wine is fermented sunshine"  Jack Keller

I made dandelion before in 2012, there is one bottle left. Time to make more. This is my first attempt at mead. I understand it's a slow process.

My mother used it make dandelion wine when I was a child. Some of my best memories are of gathering the flowers for her and later being rewarded with a small (1 oz.) glass to taste. Thank you, Devlyn, for resurrecting some of the few truly happy memories of childhood that mostly I've forgotten.

Do you need dandelions? I have a ton in the front yard. Literally a ton.  :D

Hey Devlyn...
Yum love mead and dandelion wine... Err most wines?

Can I get a virtual glass of each? I can always rewarm the mead  ;)

Good hobby, oh sorry about the fingers in molten sugar, i know how split fingers feel, a winter curse out here for me.

Those are both bubbling away in a dark cabinet, let me give you a wine tour, though!  :)  I think the variety of colours is reason enough to make your own wine.

This is 2012 dandelion.
