Title: Pictures session help?
Post by: ganjina on May 05, 2015, 02:02:31 PM
Hi,

A freelance friend of mine is doing a photography study to complement her professional portfolio, and I was asked to let her take some shots of me in a studio. I just know it's supposed to showcase people aesthetics and prettiness from a kind of natural point of view, face and full body shots, no nudes. It also includes a photo session with a FTM guy and other different people (ethnics, ages, etc.).

Why share this here? I thought maybe someone had a nice idea to share :). There should be some variety but I can only come up with some casual or pretty attire, and that seems bland? I do not even know what I am supposed to show or do. I used to do some modeling before coming out a few years ago, but like, now there are no rules or direction and I feel just lost. I mean before it was literally "do this, do that" and I'd just kind of copycat a photographer, but now I am asked to do or "show something different"? Any advice pretty please? She wanted to give me a food, transportation and monetary compensation and I really do not know how to do something good and feel real shy.

Wear clothing you really like to wear (take a couple extra outfits you like(lingerie as well)) and do up your makeup and hair as you normally would and present yourself to the world as the person you are inside.  once your there show her what you have and discuss it with her... I'm sure she will have ideas about what she wants to do that will be acceptable to you.  Good Luck :)

Be natural, but be super confident, unfortunately the lens does not lie... But of course there plenty of apps like photoshop... However they can't hide emotion!

Anyway, right clothes as Emily said and a good positivity and you'll blitz it for your friend, maybe even a new career or return to one?

You could think about some accesoires or objects that describe you, apart from pose...
do you have a hobby, a passion, something you like ?
You could think about one or a few items that represent that... and bring it along... (if you feel comfortable showing)

Don't feel shy... its digital photography, results can be viewed immediately, and favourable poses tried out and improved upon...
it can be really fun...

My suggestion for lingerie was so that you feel more feminine/confident about yourself not for getting your picture taken in it :P but if you want to do that more power to you :)

Haha! I get it now. Well I think it would not be very flattering on myself, because I could do it otherwise hehe.
Hey!!

Just a quick update, the session got cancelled.. by myself because I had a surprise appointment for a nice job position :)!
I thought about you girls because whether it is for photos or for an interview, the emotional advice about just being calm, yourself, confident, applies all right! I'll be seeing them again next week.

Cuddos!
