Hi ^_^
My name's Alex and i'm 21, i've been on estrodiol Valerate for about 7 months now so i am on and had two injections of the suppressor (Name escapes my brain) and my next one due this month. But what i think has really, REALLY hit me now after being a impatient child since i was 16 to get on the medication is sperm banking.
Though I'm indifferent between adopted children and biological as they are children eitherway who you raise and care for and love, i kind of have that "Genetic Pride" (Makes me sound evil :s ) of at least one biological child would it be too late to save sperm or would it still work if i temporarily stopped my medication? Though the though of stopping sounds life defying if i could then i would possibly do so. Just really curious if it was still possible that's all.

Mod Edit - Sorry but we can't mention HRT dosages.
Hi Alex, Welcome to Susan's. It's hard to say and one thing I am for sure about the longer your on HRT the more likely it is to late. You would need to consult a doctor to know they would be able to tell you if you have anyting bank. I do know that they generally tell you to do that before HRT since being able to after isn't guaranteed. It's possible stopping HRT and waiting awhile might return that ability too. Consult a doctor and your therapist to discuss what you need to that works best for you and your needs. I look forward to seeing you around the site. Good luck and Hugs
Mariah

Welcome to Susan's Alexamii...
Good to have you onboard, look forward to seeing you about :)
Your sperm count may have already been reduced, I would check with your Endo or Medical Practioner to get checked... In Some the sperm counts drop off really quickly, others a little longer, the sooner you check the better as your considering this.
Anyway, Welcome...

Hi Alexamii,
Usually your endo or doctor can help with this. My endo before prescribing extras asked me if I wanted to they provided that service free.
If you want to find out for yourself, you may find that when you reach the big O, if it ones out clear, chances are slim but if it comes out streaky you may have a chance. Different for everyone.
There was someone here who's partner fell pregnant and they had been on hormones for years (look up search toolbar)
You might want to talk to a fertility doc to confirm it, but since you're only 21 and haven't been on HRT for very long, I'd say that (provided you were fertile prior to starting HRT), your chances are excellent. However, you'd need to come off hormones altogether for an extended period of time - at least 6 months and maybe as much as a year. This is because it takes about 4 months for sperm cells to mature, and on top of that you need to allow time for your testicles to recover from the effects of the hormones.
