Title: Nose Hairs
Post by: Metanoia on May 08, 2015, 02:28:20 PM
I've read the benefits of hrt changing and removing hair from different places.... Nothing I've read ever mentions nose and ear hairs... I assume they also lessen or disappear?

They keep growing just like before. I haven't noticed any difference in regards to them. Hugs

For me I've noticed the amount of nose hairs have decreased significantly since HRT. I also get them waxed (European Wax Center has a safe way to wax them.) I used to have to get them waxed every month, but now it's been well over 4 or 5 more months since I've needed them done. I never had an ear hair so I can't answer for that one.

I've been plucking out nasal hairs since I was on HRT the first time for two years in the early 1990s. Fortunately I never had a massive thicket in there to begin with but those hairs they keep growing back. These days it's just a case of maintenance, plucking out one or three every day or so. And yeah it hurts, especially the ones right at the front of the nostril. Fortunately I've never had a problem with ingrowns or infections which is a real potential problem.

I think it depends on the age you are when you start HRT, older bio men can have very long and thick hair cascading from nostrils and ears and eyebrows. The HRT probably stops it from getting worse, may reduce it in thickness and coarseness a little, but without removal won't dimimish a lot.

Before HRT I would run the trimmer every couple of weeks.  Since I started HRT I've only had to use it once, so there has definitely been a significant reduction in growth.  Nothing gets long enough to be able to pluck.

Ouch!

It's not that painful, a lot less painful than electrolysis that's for sure!!!! They use a special wax (it's blue in color) that reduces the pain of waxing quite a bit.

I'll trim mine, but plucking them is apparently bad to do. Also, the hair is there for a reason, its a filter and for moisture so you don't breathe in too dry of air. I only trim them about once a month, a few seconds and done. But then they never grew that bad anyway.

Snip, snip in the nose (every week), and pluck the area's I can... Pluck around the ears, either case tho HRT has reduced but not rid me of them...
When I Go to the Laser/Electro clinic it'll be one of the questions I have.

I'll have to find myself a trimmer one day I suppose, eh?

I tried using a trimmer, but it always made me sneeze so I gave up on it.

I get by just fine with a pair of pliers and a torch.

It did go away for me, but I had *just* started getting a few of those too-long nose hairs (and no ear hair yet, thankfully).
