Title: A few steps more
Post by: WildThing on May 08, 2015, 04:16:56 PM
I decided to visit the Transgender Institute in Kansas City, MO (aka my home) today. It took me a while to gather up the courage to walk in the door. Even then it was an office building, so I had to go up to suite 400. Took me about 15 minutes to walk through that door. No one was at the front desk, much to my relief, but I could hear voices in the next room. I stayed for about 15 minutes, still no one showed, so I left. At least I know I have the balls (er, ovaries?) to go in. That's enough for me for now.

Attagirl!  Sure you've got them, the lady-balls, as I think they're called.  Those first few steps are so hard, heaven knows.

So now that you've cased out the joint, next time demand a drink, even if it's just water!

Good luck.  Go for it!

Sammi it takes amazing courage just to go in the first place. Following through on the first few steps are the hardest. Congrats on accomplishing that. Hopefully next time you go will have the courage to stay even if no one is at the desk right away. Good luck and hugs

When I called to make an intake appointment there would be 3 or 4 people holding. As the count go to one 1 I would hang up. I did this several times until I stayed on the line and scheduled the appointment.

I found that e-mailing first as an introduction helps. Also, they treat many tans and do not judge.

You have a lot of courage. I know a lot of people that go to a clinic several times before making contact.

Another step forward!   Yea!!

Most will never take anything close to that!

Keep trudging,  it will get easier.

Big Hugs

Hello, I am talking to one of the therapists there named Patti Concannon(sp). They have been very welcoming. They have a lot of connections for help there as well as the director is a former opera singer and does vocal couching. Don't know the fees but the therapy is on a sliding scale, no ins.

best of luck, hope to see you there one day. I have no friends right now so it would be nice.
