After finding a way to get all my surgical screening done, I am booked with Dr DiMaggio for June 1st - yes, in 3 weeks!!
I selected Dr DiMaggio for the aggressive changes, especially with my type 3 forehead. It will need a lot of work.
What I will be doing:
· Forehead remodeling with osteotomies, shaving contouring and bone reconstruction.
· Orbital rim remodeling with osteotomies & shaving.
· Hairline correction (up to 1,5 cm advancement and/or corners smoothing out).
· Brow lift (*)
· Feminizing Rhinoplasty.
· Upper lip lift with or without filler.
· Chin remodeling.
· Adams surgery.
I trimmed everything to the bone, so no cheek implants for Charlotte :-( I'm spending every single dollar I have, and took a bit of debt, but I think it is worth it. My goal is to be passing 100% of the time, to go with my legal and work transition in September.
Anything that need cosmetic fixes (like a facelift, maybe a neck lipo, blepharoplasty) will wait a year or more until I get more money.
I am super chicken of flying to Argentina. I love North America, it's so safe. Argentina, well I've never been there and I'm so afraid :embarrassed: :embarrassed: :embarrassed: :embarrassed:
Fortunately, a male friend, big and macho, who happens to work as a policeman will join me. Better than my mom of my life partner who are not exactly big girls.
Now I'm thinking about the practical things, I will have to buy warm clothes as it's winter down there. I have very little clothes that are both warm and with a large head opening.
Any suggestion on what to take with me is welcome.
I am now looking for a cheap apartment for 3 weeks, with an ice dispenser in the fridge and an extensible shower head as I was told how important it was. Fortunately, I just booked a flight for just $1,030 round trip, but I don't want to spend too much on the apartment.
If any of you DiMaggio girls rented recently, please send me links to where you stayed and how it was.
Hello Charlotte,
I'd recommend that you try to rent an appartment in Belgrano-one of the suburb which is suppose to be nice and quiet. In addition it's in the same area where I understand Dr Di Maggio has a clinic that takes care of the after care. I'm staying there myself from 22th of June to 11th of July this year. Day of surgery is 25th of June.
I hope this answers some of your questions.
All the best,
Jannicke
That's exactly the place I'm looking for an apartment in, but the prices on AirBNB are high. Maybe there are other websites that are reliable for Argentina?
You arrive on June 25? I'll be leaving after the 16 so I guess we won't be meeting!

Buenos Aires is a safe city overall. You can walk around safely by day or night (as long as you don't go to the wrong places that every gigantic city like this has). I don't know in what kind of places in North America you are used to be... If you feel comfortable in New York City, you will surely feel OK in Buenos Aires. If you are more used to the countryside way of life, then it might be not as easy for you to get along with the environment.

I had good experience with ByTArgentina. Their offer range is quite broad.. websites search system is a little weird, didn't want to work exactly how I expected. There were more than enough apartments available in Belgrano area. You should look for Belgrano, definitely. Unless you enjoy long sightseeing drives with taxi.
Uh, I don't like the idea of spending on a taxi so it'll be in Belgrano or nearby!
And thanks for the tip for the website! I'll try to compare the offers between ByTArgentina and AirBNB later next week. I've got my last final tomorrow and I haven't been studying a lot so I need to catch up. I was so fully concentrated on my FFS and finding a summer job to help repay the loan faster! That may not be the recipe for best grades :)
By the way, how long after the FFS could you use a computer for several hours per day? (I'll be working remotely) Were you bloated around the eyes? Was it painful to keep them open?
Charlotte,
If the other options when it comes to appartment doesn't work out, you're welcome to PM me. It may be that the one I'm renting from can help you out.
All the best with your preparations for the surgery.
Jannicke
Taxi costs are included in price.. You pay the taxi driver, and patient coordinator returns you the amount later.
I wasn't able to read from computer screen until 4th day.. they put a cream in your eyes during surgery, and that stayed a couple days, blurring everything, plus me having glasses didn't help.
Its highly unlikely you will be able to do any work in first week...
Ok, no work for the first week then. Ahhh, the joy of being a remote worker paid by the hour :-)
I will spend my time with ice and massages.
Jannicke, thanks a lot for the offer. I may take you up on this. So far the persons I've contacted have been unresponsive. I just want a flexible shower head, an ice maker, in Belgrano for less than $40 a night. It didn't seem so hard. I will try again to contact several hosts.
What is capillary advance?
I think she means hairline advancement.
About the apartment, I found the perfect one. After being in for a few hours, I confirm it's great: 650 USD for 3 weeks and 2 beds, with the flexible showerhead and icemaker.
Sorry. scalp advancement

I operated last year with Maggio. I was staying in Palermo. I did frontoplasty. It is great for orbital bone. In the future maybe I need another acanço scalp or hair transplant. My forehead is too big.
Ok I'm super happy : a haircut is 100 pesos, wow! Not happy about appointments: my manicure got cancelled and I was told only when I came. Not nice. Anyway back to the city!! It's a very nice place.
It totally looks like Europe!
It sounds like you are enjoying yourself; please post some pictures :)
It's 3 am local time. I can't sleep. I can't eat, drink or take anything either - not before the surgery. Anyway these alprazolams didn't really help me find sleep.
Today is the big day, and time T is in 4 hours when Claudia will come pick me up. The alarm is set up to ring in 3 hours but I don't think I'll need it.
kittenpower, I did enjoy myself these last few days. On Saturday I had so much fun with Ruby! Today my guy friend took me around the city. The city has a nice buzz. It's alive and happy.
But sorry, I didn't take any picture. I can't yet. I don't want too many memories of the before. The only pictures I managed to do was me in the plane, a pic of my cup of coffee and an attempt at a selfie at the same coffee spot. But I saw the pics and felt very bad. There was a very ugly face on these pictures.
I will be happy to post pictures in a few days - even if I'm bloated and look like I've just been into a fight :) It will be different, because my new life is about to begin in a few hours.
I'm not sure I will be able to post updates for a while, but thanks a lot to all you girls for your kind support. It was really super helpful.
Now I will close my eyes and keep waiting for the time to pass. I'm so eager and hopeful. I don't pray very often but I just did.
Hi Charlotte, I have been thinking about you today, and I was hoping you would post. Best wishes :)
Hello Charlotte,
Good luck with the surgery today.
All the best,
Jannicke
Best wishes Charlotte, I am thinking positive thoughts for you and the beauty you will wake up with :)
Hugs
Sorcha ;D
Best of luck, Charlotte.
I can still remember how it felt to know that things were a few hours from being fixed, and how cool it was to wake up with a smooth forehead and no adams apple, amongst other things.

Hey girls. Quick hello from the hospital bed. The result is great according to 3 other persons besides myself. I could nt see any change in the picture shown to be in the waking room cause I had blurry vision. True story lol must have been the meds or the surgery. I still do see blurry whn its close to my face but its ok when i close one eye. But the brow bossing is like totally gone to hell. This is just a perfectly flat forehead. And I can see the woman in the picture. Tonight I will be sleeping. I will also have nice dreams but they won't stop when I wake up.

That's great news, honey. Congratulations!
Really pleased for you :) Hope the recovery is quick and as painless as possible :)

How cool...! You see, you survived the operation; brain and both kidneys are intact and not on their way to some mafioso; and now you're well on the road to being The Girl. Isn't that great! :D
Take your time and relax. Sleep. Send us pics when you're ready.

Muito feliz por você, Charlotte. Agora, é só ter paciência e repousar bastante. Tomar os remédios nas horas certas. Logo, será só alegria. Beijos
Tired but still alive. Swollen. Will write more later.
It's nice to hear from you, just relax and take care :)

Some surgeons recommend bromelain to speed up healing and help with bruising and pain...
or you could have a glass of fresh pineapple juice daily...
all at your own risk, look for reliable sources... and ask your doctor first... but many said it helped...
