Is it possible to live as a woman without too much of the surgery? Especally keeping the well.... 'dangly parts'? and if I DID go on HRT WHat effect would it have there?
I ask cause apparently the only guy in NZ that did this sorta thing retired so I can't do it here and it'll be STUPIDLY expensive with a possible LONG wait list to go do the SRS part so it looks like I'm out of luck going ALL the way but I don't mind too much...
If you started HRT then yes, soon enough your 'dangly bits' would become a 'small question' ...
If you ask me, SRS does not a woman make. It is all the other things that make a woman - who a person is, how they interact with others, where they fit socially, etc. Some need the surgery to feel 'right'. That's not all of us, though.
I am in no hurry to have SRS. Yet I am regarded by many as a woman, regardless.
This is all about how you feel within your own skin. If you reach a point where the GD begins to fade away ... and you are living for all other purposes in your preferred gender ... then you are winning :~)
Yes, it is perfectly possible - many women on this forum are doing it now. They are awaiting SRS or have decided not/are unable to have it. If you feel you are able to live as your identified gender without surgery then that is great.
I hadn't done anything yet...still trying to work up the courage and convince who I need to. I was just wanting to know what i'd get into with what I can maybe do which may be HRT and maybe a boob job...
In regards to sexual stuff would I still be able to enjoy sexual intercorse if I have it and orgasm?
Many pre op women orgasm. It is completely different to a male orgasm, you may not get an erection and you may not produce fluid but very satisfying.
Being a woman is not about surgery, passing, clothes or anything really. It is being the true female you. Some women want breasts, of various sizes; as do ciswomen. Some women want to be 'pretty' some are not bothered either way.
The good SRS surgeons have a warning on their pre op instructions: this procedure will make not you any more feminine or anymore of a woman than you were pre op.
Some women have a deep desire for surgery, others do not; for a variety of reasons.
You and all of us, walk our own paths and every path is a valid one.
I've got no plans for surgery at all and I'm as happy as a clam. As for the 'dangly bits' I've had some shrinkage, but it's still mostly functional, some things have changed, as Cindy mentioned, but I can only claim it's an improvement for me.
The overwhelming majority of trans women I know in real life are non-op. None of them report problems with it.
