"On April 28, a 20-year-old Pass Christian resident, whom several South Mississippi residents said they knew as Alaina, was booked into the Harrison County Detention Center under the name "Richard Alan Mauffray."
I agree with the premise of the article - that isolating a trans prisoner is double punishment, but it's a step up from what happens most of the time, where women are thrown in with the men.
I think this is a difficult issue to resolve. Trans women clearly belong with women, but it is not always obvious when a male-bodied prisoner can be classified as a trans woman.
