Title: What are the signs/symptoms of your testosterone converting to estrogen?
Post by: Bimmer Guy on May 19, 2015, 08:33:07 PM
I have been tired a lot lately and I have been on a higher dose of T (than the "standard dose").  I am wondering how I would know if my T was converting to estrogen.

What are the signs/symptoms?  I haven't seen this discussed on here before.

Thanks.

The basic signs of female puberty; Breast tenderness, acne, etc. In FTM might possibly include spotting, and/or a resumption of your period.

Ask your doc to test your estradiol...if you have had any previous baseline tests to compare with.  If it is high and your T is also higher than normal, than that might be an explanation for how you are feeling.  Not sure how long you have been on a higher dose, but every time I have changed dose, it seems to zap my energy for a while, whether an increase or decrease.  I think the body has significant energy demands to maintain homeostasis, so when there are changes...we feel it!

Bookmarking this! Have you thought about any other stressors that could be making you more tired?

I never really got the energy boost with T. If anything I'm more tired than before, so I think you're safe. Would be very interested to see some blood test results if there is any correlation to E levels and how you're feeling.

I actually started having similar symptoms. Like really estrogenic, PMS, bloating type of symptoms. I was so tired all the time, had bad mood swings and I felt depressed, without any reason. It all started very suddenly, after 4,5 months on T.

After 1,5 months of feeling like crap, I asked my doc to test my estradiol level, and it was a lot higher than before!
So my estradiol was high (for a guy) so I got prescribed anastrozole (anti-estrogen).

Within couple of days of taking it, I started to feel better, and now, after 3 weeks, I feel SO much better!
Just have to be careful not to go too low with your E2 levels ! Apparently that could happen easily, so you have to be careful with your dose.
