Title: The many faces of Beverly
Post by: Susan on May 20, 2015, 04:35:01 PM
Beverly deleted her account a long time ago, but she never left. She has been here ever since under a multitude of account names.
After receiving a delete request from her latest creation, I started looking into her account to see if i could figure out why. I looked at their posts, and for the most part they were good. I deleted one as a TOS violation. In another she points out she creates accounts makes some posts and then deletes them.

So I checked her IP. It seems that her IP address has not changed in that time making her easy to track. I find 34 accounts.

So I went and re-attributed all of her posts from her many accounts to her current username, and renamed it from thfwdf to Beverly.

I have no problems if you wish to leave the site, but do not delete accounts simply to create new ones.

Deletion request denied.

Welcome back Beverly.

I'm somewhat grateful to her (in her Bev2 incarnation). She made a lot of supportive posts when I was planning my transition. She even came up with 100 good things about transitioning in response to my 100 things that will suck (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,128509.0.html). I was really sad when I saw her account had been deleted. I wish I had known she'd been back periodically.

That's some serious alphabet soup.  How on earth do you remember your user name when you do that?

I think she should offer wisdom where she can, and participate where she likes, as Beverly. I still like Beverly, she was one of my staff for a long time!

the confirmation email will have it if you keep that stuff. Also your pc can retain that info for you as well.

"Egg on face" time Susan. You have me confused with someone else. I have NEVER been a staff member here. I lack the temprament for it.

After receiving a delete request from her latest creation, I started looking into her account to see if i could figure out why.

I initially left when it became apparent to me that I was suffering from trying to deal with many of the posts on here. This is why I know I could never be a staff member. I had several more goes at it but it never worked out. So in the end I compromised. I stayed out of here and I read the posts but did not comment on them. By not having an account I could not be sucked in to the negative, downward spiral that I had previously experienced. Nonetheless I occasionally came across posts I could not ignore - either things I knew a lot about or just out and out wrong information. I could not let people harm themselves because I neglected to speak up so I made an account, did what I could and then left again.

It has been a long time - years - and it is no shortage of people on here needing help and support, but staying too long damages me. By having the accounts deleted I place a barrier in my own way, an obstacle that stops me getting sucked into trivial arguments. My "anonymity" helps me and protects me. I am not here for kudos or smites. I just want to see that people who really need solid help get that help if I can provide it. If others can provide it then I let them do so.

The different account names became a PITA so after a while I just used whatever the CAPTCHA presented me with on the registration screen. Generally I limited myself to 10 responses. Once the forum software made it too easy to post it was time to go so I requested the account to be deleted.

Except that is not me. I spell my name differently (correctly!) using the English version, not the USA version. I do remember noticing someone with a similar name and I presume she now has my posts.

It is up to you. I shall generate a random email address and random password which will prevent me from logging into this account. I tried to help on my own terms and if they are not acceptable then so be it, I have no problem with that.

Good luck and best wishes.

Hello Suzi

I think you were still "agfrommd" when I headed for the hills, but I have followed your progress and got kind of jealous when you had your GRS ahead of me (mine is in a few weeks time).

I did think about getting in touch with people but it would have been confusing and unfair to hop around from account to account so I just settled for reading instead.

I am glad that you got to where you wanted to be x x

If I thought you were a former staff member, that means I thought you were capable of doing the job.

I know I am not.

As I said to Cindy many years ago "I am one of the sheep, not one of the shepherds". I know my limitations and I will not step beyond them.

Hi Devlyn. I have been unmasked!

For anyone reading this, Susan and I have had an exchange of PMs and the choice to depart is mine, not hers. I have not been pushed and she has been very understanding of my situation. I wish her and all of you every success

Too bad.  I can at least remember how to spell "Beverly".
