Title: First Check In
Post by: Claraaa on May 20, 2015, 06:13:04 PM
I am pretty new to all this and came out to my partner a year ago.  I have been cross-dressing since 9 or 10 but only now (coming into the middle of my life) have I finally gotten honest with myself and acknowledged I am somewhere on the trans scale.  I have a fair bit of dysphoria lately but not ready for presenting full time.

I am seeing a gender therapist and working with the specialist under the ICATH http://www.icath.org/ (http://www.icath.org/) (informed consent) model for care.  I started taking Spiro and Finasteride this week with the intention of taking things very slow; both for me and my partner's sake.  She is as supportive as she can be - but not having any gender identity issues means that she struggles with understanding mine (her words).

I have found the forums here very helpful in understanding the very broad spectrum people are presenting/transitioning on.  I am using Tumblr to post more frequently on - even if no one is reading the blog I have found it helpful to just get it out of my brain.  I don't consider myself very knowledgeable but if I can help anyone please do not hesitate to ask.

Welcome to Susan's Place! Although I'm much older, it seems that you and I are on a similar track. I have been on a moderate dosage of spiro for some time which has resulted in a significant decrease in my testosterone level according to lab results. While that may not be right for anyone else, I believe that has led to some positive and beneficial changes for me. I'm carefully considering asking to add estrogen to my treatment.

You said you were blogging elsewhere, please keep us informed here. I'd value your experience.

All the best.
