It seems as I look at my pre HRT and post beginning there seems to be quite a difference in how it looks like my age has change. I really don't know because I'm just looking at myself , but it does seem I've taken a few years off with HRT. Have others seen a small or big change since starting hormones, just curious.
I've always looked young for my age, Now that I'm transitioning I look closer to my real age, but maybe that will change as I alter my (and develop my own) style.
Its been a while since I've looked at numbers, but in general, transmen tend to look younger than they are and transwomen tend to look their age. I don't think that took into account any makeup, and the surgery techniques were different. Our skin changes as we get older, loses elasticity, gets age spots etc., but from the hormone side of things, I would think that female hormones would soften transwomen's skin, thereby making them look younger.

Perhaps it's the true gender traits we tend to have. Male bodies with feminine traits look younger because more masculine versions of those traits develop over time. So, an FtoM with residual female traits would look younger, where as an FtoMs inherent female traits would look more age appropriate as the FtoM looked more obviously female.
estrogen vs testosterone, well it looks like the difference in my face is the shifting of the fat and a softer look.
I don't think things changed for me since I always looked a few years younger and I still did after transitioning. But now that my hair is shorter, I'm starting to look my age. :/
Its a very interesting question. I've always looked a lot younger than my age, but since starting HRT I look younger still. I often get mistaken for 10-15 years younger. Not many people can pick my age anywhere near what it is.
I'm still presenting male, so I don't know what would happen if I start presenting female successfully. It would be nice if it carried over.
It's part of puberty. One goes though a lot of new cell growth in this period. Hence, it can appear quite rejuvenating.
Beard shadow gone + softer, more even-toned skin + more defined cheeks = 10 years turned back!
Really not too proud of my age, but I've gotten used to agape mouths when people ask...which is fun.
I think the more masculine you are to start, the more the reversing clock effect happens.

According to those automatic age/gender-identifying sites like pictriev and how-old.net, I've gone from consistently looking like I was in my early 30s in just about every picture I took pre-transition to looking like I'm in my mid-20s in just about every picture I take post-transition.
I can definitely attest to the difference in people's guesses of my age too. I never got a single comment about my age before hormones. I'm a poker dealer by profession, so age can kinda be a big deal since you have to be 21 to even play poker, and I started HRT at age 27. About 5 months after I started HRT, people started routinely started asking me "are you old enough to be dealing this game?" So apparently I looked like a teenager at the time. Post-transition, I've had a few customers at work tell me that I don't look my age, I look like I'm in my mid-20s rather than looking like I'm about to turn 30 in a few months.
So yeah, for me HRT has really turned back the clock. (And I'm sure all of the skincare and Retin-A and other things that I've done since now I actually care about my appearance for the first time have probably helped too.)
Well I'm 61 and most folk think I'm a decade younger when they meet me, so I guess HRT is working for me too.

OK, so maybe it's just sour grapes, that darned thing told me I looked 83!
I found out my mirror had wrinkles, no they were not mine!
People told me I looked like a teenager when I was in the very beginning of HRT. I do look younger.
However how-old.net gets my age correct.
Estrogen has definitely turned the clock back for me. I constantly get told that I look younger than my actual age. On a recent trip to see my parents (I hadn't gone full time yet and they didn't know) my mom told me that I was looking a lot like a little boy :laugh:
If anything, I think I look a bit younger. However, that could be the makeup.

I have just returned from 6 weeks in the United Kingdom and a couple of weeks in Europe and I met up with a lot of my family, female friends and even new women friends that had been introduced to me. Whilst I was in the UK, except whilst visiting my cousins, I was basically 100% living and presenting as Judith, since most of the people certainly in England where my cottage is only know me as a woman. What though I have found to be so dramatic is the comments from friends and family as to :-
1. How calm and relaxed I look
2. You look as though you are 10 years younger
3. My goodness how beautiful your complexion is
4. You look sort of serene
5. Your skin has that dewy look
Many women (when I was visiting family gave me that querying look) as if the sensed some femininity in me.
Two of my female relations commented that I appeared to have put on weight on my bottom and hips but that I looked slimmer .
My goddaughter asked if I was growing "man boobs"
So there is no doubt in my mind that I am reaching that male fail zone, which is quite surprising as I am only on a low dose not a transition dose.

I'm 57 I started HRT 25 years ago and often thought to be late 30s/mid 40s. I had the best of both worlds getting served in bars at 15(I went from Billy no mates to the most popular kid in my year at school when they found I could buy alcohol) to a young looking late 50s. I did start going grey at 18 though and HRT did lighten my hair a lot
Yes definitely I look at least 10 years younger since hormone treatment
About 12 years younger is the general comments for me..... so happy with that.
The online age and gender sites put me at anything from 10 to 20... I'll take the later :P

Several years off as to how many I don't know, but when it comes to anything that age and how old you look for carding as a result I get carded again when for awhile I didn't. I Even carded by those who have watched the changes occur and know me.. Hugs

Yes and no; I looked about 10 years younger for the first couple years on HRT, and now I'm closer to looking my actual age again. No idea why, but at least it's convenient career-wise as I'm job-searching as a candidate who claims to have 15 years of experience? :)
I think I look about 5 years younger than before.
People think I'm 15 years younger, which is fine by me! :icon_surprised:

Yes. See, I started at age 20, and was perceived as a 20-year-old male at that time. After two months on HRT, I was just walking around somewhere, and this random woman stopped me, put her hands on my shoulders, and told me I was "the most adorable thing" she had ever seen. She asked how old I was, I said "almost 21", and she just had to go on and on about how that couldn't possibly be true because I looked like I was only 16. I had a lot of instances similar to that before I actually blossomed into someone who's perceived as being a young woman. Recently, someone guessed my age as being 22, and I was kind of taken aback by that. Then I realized that women generally look younger than do men, so she was probably accommodating for that. I couldn't pass as a 22-year-old male if I wanted to because of this difference between genders.

Yes, agree with everyone here, people think I'm 20 years younger routinely...skin is softer and just feel more serene and peaceful.
I don't see any change but all my friends say i look 10-15 years younger.
I can't say E has helped me look any less older.
Two years ago I started working back at a company I left almost 15 years ago. The reaction was a unanimous "You haven't changed a bit" (If only they knew ;D ). When I look at the ID card pics from just before starting HRT I don't see anything beyond perhaps a little more filled out in the face.
Full Disclosure. In my younger days I was given the name "Baby Face" First reason was obvious. The other a homage to Baby Face Nelson whom I was close to emulating. I was getting "proofed" in bars up untill my mid 20's (drinking age was 18 back then and pretty much no one ever got proofed). By then the rapidly receding hairline started making me look 10 years older.
Then.... there are the days I look in the mirror and see a sad old man :(
I just checked that "how old" web site and got 35, 37, 43, and 52, depending on the photo. I'm 57. I'm frequently told by others that I look to be between 35-45. I don't know if I believe that but I've heard it enough. Before that, I was a "dignified older man" according to some.
I think there are a lot of factors, not just HRT, that color perceptions.
the web site is weird . sometimes it says I'm female 57 years old other times I'm male and other times I'm female 30 years old. It seems to have to do with angles and lighting but out of the four sites I'm aware of it does nail it pretty good when it gets it .
Yes, while I've always looked younger than I am (50yo, thank you, low-stress and indoor job), after a few months on HRT people started noticing that I was looking even younger than I had been.
Part of it was probably the loss of incredible anxiety trying to be what I'm not.

Well I just started hormones a week ago so hopefully they have positive effects on my skin. BUT before I had an orchiectomy I was 22 and people always used to tell me I look much older. About 30. Once I had an orchie I felt so good. And then I thought it was in my mind I look younger but people started telling me all the time I look younger than I am. It became a pretty common thing. People never told me I look younger than 21 pre orchie. NEVER. After the orchie I was told I look under 21 many times.
So getting rid of the testosterone definitely made me look younger.
I started HRT just two and a half months ago and I can already see subtle changes to my skin. It's softer and more translucent.
I did notice I get carded for everything now.

I am actually 36 so it took off 9 years? Not too shabby.
For me the consistent feedback was 10-2 years younger looking than my age till I started Prometrium. After being on that for like 9 months I think is took out a lot of softness in my face. In the last month I dropped P and I am noticing the softening starting to return so I hope it comes back and goes beyond what I had.
Definitely younger. People are shocked now when I tell them my age. It has smoothed my skin, but also softened and reduced many of the lines on my face. Even when I look at my face in the mirror, I can not believe I am 41!

Early in HRT a guy said I looked like a teenager and wanted to know my secret to looking young. He told me whatever it is I should bottle it and sell it. I told him after I came out later that the pharmacy already does that. :)
