Title: Mom's still in denial...
Post by: WildThing on May 26, 2015, 01:38:05 AM
Mom's still not ready to recognize the fact that I am transgender. She still says maybe I'm "too focused on the issue," or because I'm "feeling stuck in my life." Perhaps I'm feeling this way because "it's been in the news lately."

This is why I don't talk to her about these things.

I had another counselor meeting. Fantastic as always. I could but ask for a better, more understanding counselor. I think we're definitely making progress in terms if goalsetting etc. But this whole mom thing is bumming me out. She said she'd love me no matter what, etc, but it's frustrating to hear her misunderstanding of things.

Give your Mum time to get her head around everything.  Remember she will be in mourning for the loss of the old you so don't expect her to be completely accepting of your transition immediately.
