Title: Hello everyone
Post by: BR06KLYN on June 09, 2015, 09:25:45 PM
Hi, my name is Brooke, I'm 19 years old from Colombia. I've been lurking this community for the last couple months, but today I decided to post for the first time. I have kinda known I'm trans since I have memory, but until recently (1 year ago) I came into terms with myself, I'm pre everything mainly because its hard to find treatment here in Southamerica and I'm kinda afraid of the effects that coming out as trans in very conservative and religious country can have.

Hi Brooklyn,

I wish you the best of luck; I too found myself in a very conservative/religious area during the infancy of my coming out.  I took the risk of being myself and initiating my transition in spite of this, and I am now regretless.  I believe in you as well.

It certainly seems like I was in your shoes several months ago.  I remember my first post on Susan's where I introduced myself and my predilection that I've been trans all along.  Things have only looked up since then.  Good luck and welcome.

Ally

Welcome to Susan's place. I don't know much about medical care in your country but medical schools and large medical centers might be a good place to start asking questions. When I was seeking medical care I had to move a distance of 375 miles (603 Kilometers) from home to be near doctors who could provide the proper medical care. Now my home town has an extensive support network and I have seen other members of the board traveling here for treatment. What a difference a few years makes. If we can help, let us know.
