So just like the title said, I filed for my name change!!! :D The clerk was amazing at handling things, and went over everything. My hearing will be in 6-8 weeks. From there, bye bye to my male name! :)
Congratulations! I'm dreaming of the day when it happens for me.
Congrats Girl!!!
It is an amazing feeling when the judge tells you your request is granted. When I got mine changed a couple weeks ago I couldn't stop smiling, still haven't. Every day a little piece of him disappears as I get the rest of my documents/accounts/ID's changed over.
I bet you can't wait to have it official. Let us know when it happens!

Gratzes!!! BTW, good to see ya. It has been a bit.
Congrats Girl. I'm glad the experience went well with the clerk. The clerk who helped deal with mine was amazing too. Hugs

Congrats! I can't wait for this day myself.
There is a hearing about it? I thought you just show up and some clerk hands you some paperwork. I am going to do this soon myself. Another trans girl that lives in this area told me it wasn't too difficult and they really didn't care why she was changing her name.
Ashley, it depends on where you live. I'm not familiar with Alabama's procedure but I'm sure you can find out fairly easily. My hearing consisted of the judge calling my case and saying "It appears that your paperwork is in order, I am granting your petition. Have a seat and the clerk will give you the order to take to the clerks office to file and you can get your copies there." It lasted all of 45 seconds. LOL
But it just depends on where you live and what the state and local court rules are. Some places you have to publish a notice in a local newspaper once a week for a month before your hearing date to give people an opportunity to object. California did away with that requirement for transgender cases a couple years ago.

For where I live, I have to have a hearing. This is the website I got info for the process of doing this from:
http://www.transadvocacy.org/resourcesmain/resources
From there, I am sure you can find out info for other states.
Congrats :-*
