MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Lisa Larson said she knew at the age of three that something was different.
In an exclusive interview, Larson explained what it means to be transgender, and how Gender Identity Disorder is seen as a medical condition as she prepares for transsexual sex reassignment surgery in 2015.

Hopefully an encouraging story to those hoping to somehow have insurance cover SRS. I wish they could force employers to provide coverage rather than specifically exclude. Currently, only five states mandate coverage.
Woot this and the no denial of coverage are great news. Alot of plans have exclusions for cosmetic surgery though

Ok so does this mean that I can get a sex change through The Afordable Healthcare Act now? Is this a new development because I didn't think Obamacare covered SRS.
I'm highly skeptical of this. I didn't read the article, only the posts here but, for one, I bet they require an up front payment like the rest of them do with Medicare I think it was. For another thing, just how many doctors let alone those few who can perform SRS will even accept Obama care? I'm just so sick and tired of false hope. This world needs to do the right thing already!
Some states require medicaid to cover SRS and ACA has made medicaid available to many more people.
