Title: Please help: Improve hair growth
Post by: galaxy on June 19, 2015, 08:17:19 AM
Hello,

ive tried a lot of methods to improve my hair growth. Its no real alopiecia, its more very thin hair and less density then normal hair. So i had minoxodil, finasteride, androcur, alfatradiol, capsaicin, zinc/biotion/vitamins, hairwater/shampoo with coffeine ... estradiol on hair, progesteron on hair ... all these not changed the situation of my hair. Its thin and has no density or volume - growth was 25cm (ca. 10") in absout 3 years. I had a little regrowth in the front, but no changes of hair quality.

Are there any alternative methodes left?
What can i do? My hair makes me sad every day - after stand up, before go to bed and between ... its so bad.  :'(

You could have a look here.
https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,167887.msg1661891.html#msg1661891

Brewers yeast is a supplement that should be readily available. In your country its called biolabor bierhefe (tip from an aquaintant).
Its available with or without zinc.
Look at the link above if you take meds for depression or have diabetes.
It was listed in wikipedia as for hair growth. Some people have reported over the half more in a few months.

You could take it for a few weeks... and you can look it up on amazon, there are ratings of other people there...

Is the rest of your nutrition healthy ?
Not too much sugar or high sugar drinks... enough fruits and vegetables... not too many artificial components...
maybe no artificial sweeteners, rather natural ones or brown sugar which is less refined...
Nutrition can make a difference... and imo not washing hair too often, or with an organic product, so not to use too many chemical components.

You could try another product for washing your hair.
There are a few different hair types. Maybe you could find one more suitable for you.

And as said, I'd prefer organic and not use it too often.
You might look what is available and/or have a look at amazon, there are ratings given there from everyday people.

But another shampoo wont change my hair structure or the follicles. I need more density and thicker hair.

It does.
Hair grows out of skin. Nourishing products there influence the follicles, as do chemical products which should not be there imo in some shampoos.
Its like a lawn.. its all interconnected.
Right nutrition... right care (not too much or too rough)... and even the cutting has an influence.

There are reports telling that cutting during different moon phases has an influence. Old knowledge, people said it helped. Some hair stylists even offer advice in this direction meanwhile.

Most of the women never cared about these all and have strong, full and thick hair. Why?
And whats wrong with my nutrition?

Well there are a lot of women who say they have thin hair...
Imo this is like a system with a few factors influencing, one of the factors could be a bottleneck.

There are many people who reported brewers yeast helped, or biotin which is an ingredient, you can look that up.
Its a combination of nutritients which could help. I have read 60% more growth by some.

And a change in shampoo should also make a difference imo.

Ive tried a minimum of 20 shamposs the last years ... everything, naturals, for fine hair, volume shampoo, with coffeine, without coffein, with that, with these - lost all in all a few thousand euros for getting better hair and nothing happend in summary. The only thing helped was Androcur with blocking testosterone - so i had regrowth on the forehead.

I personally have good experience with brewers yeast, especially in combination with zinc. Makes also nails grow.

I'd go to a shop which also sells organic products, write down a few of them and look them up.
If some of them have good reviews they might help.

You might additionally feel if they are agreeable...

Someone I know tried also a combination product.
For some unknown reason it didn't work as good as pure brewers yeast with zinc...
Either the dose was simply far too low in there or some ingredient hindered some...

If you have tried everything in an area then it's time to find something else to try to see if that helps get the hair growing. Keep searching and don't give up on find something that will get the hair growing. Some of mine are being stubborn and staying short so if you happened to find that secret to getting things to grow and grow long let me know. Good luck and Hugs

Try only brewers yeast, it really worked with me. Its inexpensive and easy to take, a few pills a day.
Nail and hair growth should vastly increase.

And there are many other people who have to rely on other means of feminization.
Some are not on hrt, some have not that much feminization. Its quite a few people.
They all cope and find a way.

There are ways to work around: FFS, etc.

sending you good thoughts

I havent the power and the money anymore for "working".

Suporn will costs all my last money, my nose and breast last year was about 12.000€ ... so, theres nothing left. I lost all my money an my life sucks the same like before. Everybody i started with 3 years ago has some results, a breast, long hair, some feminine shape, a curvy butt - something from this long list .... and i still waiting and ask the same questions like back in days.

I mean, sure - thats a lottery of genetics and where we've winners we must have loosers as well. The winners go out and have its new life, body ... and the looser will be quit after some time of outrage and sometime they will be away and nobody wll notice it. Thats the game and we all knew the rules.

Funny that you call yourself a loser as you've had enough money already to do nose/breast surgery. Some barely have any money, let alone to take hormones...I would consider you pretty lucky in that regards.

Here is a link to an article (in a peer reviewed medical journal) about using a dermaroller to improve the effects of Minoxidyl

http://www.ijtrichology.com/article.asp?issn=0974-7753;year=2013;volume=5;issue=1;spage=6;epage=11;aulast=Dhurat (http://www.ijtrichology.com/article.asp?issn=0974-7753;year=2013;volume=5;issue=1;spage=6;epage=11;aulast=Dhurat)

I was doing it for awhile and saw some improvement.  Here is a graph from the paper.

(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ijtrichology.com%2Farticles%2F2013%2F5%2F1%2Fimages%2FIntJTrichol_2013_5_1_6_114700_u8.jpg&hash=6f7b6ca6d522d6277e383cd962e12dca797b9579)

Hope this helps

You are blaming genetics but I suspect more is going on and perhaps your treatment is ineffective and should be changed BUT this is up to your doctor to decide...you can always consult others to see what they have to say. Personally, I do much better on higher levels of estradiol and some progesterone.

I use to dermal roll with 3mm needles (a good amount of blood draw, then use minoxidil. The FDA had not approved this use of minoxidil this way and after a while I stopped micro dermal rolling. Here is why:

The study which I read too was on cis guys with normal T,

I have T below 20 ng/dl,

I use finasteride, the high dose,

I use a 80 laser helmet every other day.

I use minoxidil twice a day.

I though of going back and including rolling into my routine but after a year rolling I wanted to stop for a while and see if it mattered. I have some ok hair regrowth but I think it is due to T suppression. I need transplants.

One study found that there was no significant difference in DHT levels in the blood or scalp at very low or higher doses of finasteride.

The study I read (been a while so my memory may be incorrect) there was a 5% difference between a low and high dose of finasteride and a 5% difference between a high dose of finasteride and dutasterid.

My trans care pharmacy (meds at cost) does not carry dutasterid and my insurance refused to cover it without my PA-c filling out an appeal form. I doubt they would cover it for hair use. My PA-c prescribed the finasteride high dose I may inquire about breaking the finasteride dose in half.

First: I tried everything for treatment is on the market in the last 3 years. Gel, pils, patches, injections, split medications, with androcur, without androcur, bicalutamid, finasteride, spiro, progesterone, high dosage, low dosage - last one was 6 month injections blood levels of 1400 pg/ml E2 and all these doesnt matter. Its all the same, no real effects. Dont tell me i should speak or change something - theres nothing left for changing and so i went back to gel - low risk, easy using. On which way if no effects doesnt matters anymore.

Same with the hair: I tried nearly every option: finasteride, minox, hairwaters with coffein, zinc, biotin, other vitamins - i also have an dermaroller, but youve to make little wounds in the skin, so its more a job for a professional - i tried capsaicin, progeteron directly on the skin ... i guess HRT and androcur has a bit effects but not these free available stuff. No effects and expensive!

I found out the ive maybe an seborrhoeic eczema because of my atopy/asthma - so next thing i will try is some terzolin hairwater against eczema and dry skin. But i dont think that will be the big clue.

Hair growth has a lot to do with genes and pre-disposal for hairloss.
My puberty started early and already when I was 16 my hair started thinning and it turned quite bad.
It since started growing out anew after I started HRT.

To me it sounds like you are doing everything you possibly can. I can only offer a tip for hiding thinning hair effectively.
I used hair pieces called 'hair toppers'/fake fringes etc. If you purchase real human hair, the results are very natural. I preferred a higher-end system, but you can find cheaper ones which also look nice online as well.

:)

Perhaps, you just need to RELAX and things will start to work better. ;) Don't worry so much, forget about hormones, live life and 6 months later, you might be surprised...who knows? Don't underestimate the effect of stress (i.e. cortisol) on the body.

Wen tea tree--cleansing conditioner and oil. Remarkable results!! (I dont work for them I promise!)
This stuff is da bomb at regrowing hair. 3 years ago, my hair was broken and wrecked from chemical procesess and constant flat ironing. I cried all the time because it was getting shorter and shorter. Originally I had full thick victorias secret hair, but I was insane for highlighting and flatironed at least twice a day...my hair was breaking off hugely! So i wound up getting it chopped to my jaw line--soooo depressed!!! I bought Jessica Simpson hair for big night-out events because my hair was so short and horrible looking(i.e. thin, see through).
I started on Wen and wasn't impressed but kept with it and my hair felt better. Over time, I stopped using any hot tools besides a blow dryer--I still bleach the bejeezus out of it though.lol But in 3 years time its down to my waist--I was stunned!!
Use the oil at night--on your scalp, massage in--sleep--rinse out in the a.m. using the cleansing conditioner. He's got other flavors if your hair seems dry or needs more volume--check it out on qvc or chaz's website. Don't buy from the commercial --they're a rip off and Chaz hates them and wants to break the contract(Can you tell I stalk this guy?lol)
The tea tree oil he makes is magic for regrowing hair. You can especially massage it into thinning areas like temples or wherever and you'll see little baby hairs regrowing in a few weeks. I'd even broken off my bangs so all I had were little hair stumps but they've grown out too. This stuff is magic!
Also again with the vitamins riff. VitaPrime makes one w/o iron that works amazing! I've been fighting a chronic illness for the last year and had been put on them by my holistic doc....my hair is strong, but my nails are like indestructable!lol I can't even clip them anymore--I have to use the electric nail file to file them so they're not too long. I always have had brittle nails but the vitamins in this one brand are amazing. Start with half a pill and work up from there--that way you can tell if the biotin is going to break you out(I had to stop at 1 pill a day instead of 2).
Biotin on it's own is great and cheap but imo causes major huge breakouts. My skin looked the worst it's ever looked in my whole life when I was taking biotin by itself--no matter how much water I drank. Biotin is just bad for some people. If you try it, just do it a few days--you'll def know by then if it's going to break you out or not. The VitaPrime has biotin in it but a different chemical formula so it's more bio-available and less likely to break you out.
Hope that gives you some help:) Nothing worse than having hair your hate--I totes understand!!

Thats right. A lot of doom metal and a few beers work better to me than anything else.  >:-)
