Title: I finally talked with my mom about being trans.
Post by: Maddy_Aya_W. on June 28, 2015, 01:28:18 AM
She came into town this weekend to take my grandfather garage saleing. We did all that earlier today, during which time, my grandfather voiced his opinion on the recent legalization of same sex marriage. Which was not in favor of it, talking about how people oughtta follow the bible. So, I kind of know his opinion on the subject. After everything was said and done, my mother and I went to my house. She asked me about why I'd been depressed today. You can probably guess why I might have been upset. After several tense moments of me trying to build the courage to tell her, she started guessing what it was, which prompted me to outright tell her that I was transgender. I explained as best I could what it meant, and what it meant for my future. She responded very well, actually. She used the term transgender in reference to me, instead of the offensive ones, you know the ones I mean. Even before I told her those terms were offensive. She's going to stick by me, she's going to support me, and she now understands why I'm apprehensive about living with my grandfather. It's a huge relief to me, and I couldn't have done it without the support I've received here. Thank you to everyone here who's given me any advice, or words of encouragement/wisdom. One immediate family member down, six to go. It should be easier for me, with my mothers support, to come out to my siblings though. Funny thing is, I got a fortune cookie today, which read, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with one tiny step". First step down, a whole ship load left to go, but I'm sure each step will be easier than the last. Thanks again to everyone who's helped me take that step, I can never express my full gratitude.

Hugs,
Maddy
