Good afternoon.
I apologize if this question has already been answered and posted several times before.
For those of you who are MTF who have been on hormones for a while, how much does it affect your hand strength?
I'm aware that you do lose muscle mass after taking estrogen. Yet, does the experience differ based on the individual?
Some of the concerns that I have is that I use my hands quite a lot as a writer and a musician who plays several instrument. I'm quite concerned that my technical abilities may greatly diminish and I'll have nowhere near the speed or endurance that I once previously had.
If any of you can help me out or provide some further insight, that would be terrific. Thank you very much!
Well many people report not being able to lift as much... like 15 kg instead of 25... but holding and playing a musical instrument should not need that much strenght... after all cis people play such instruments, too...
hugs
My fingers are thinner and feel much more flexible. As far as loss of strength in my hands I have not noticed any. Arms I have lost strength but not in my hands to any amount to make me notice. I also work out my core so perhaps that may help my hand strength.

Muscle loss has been profound for me. I can't even open a twist cap anymore without a pair of pliers. I have to have help now lifting anything over 25 pounds. BTW I play flute and it hasn't effected my playing at all.
I agree. After time on HRT and eventually SRS, I have zero male muscle strength. My grip strength has been measured in the lower-average for a cis-fem my age. Another thing too...before HRT I hated my shoulders, thinking they were too wide--but now they're tiny--bras and tank slip off constantly no matter what size I buy.
My arms and hands look nearly the same like before my HRT - but i really lost a lot of strenght - maybe 50%.
