Title: Greetings from Arizona
Post by: azsnakecharmer84 on July 14, 2015, 01:58:40 PM
Hi all,,
My name is Ronnie and I am a M2F,  50 years old and somewhat new to recognizing and realizing my brain gender after many years of self questioning. Interestingly, my son,  20 years old came to me several years back as he questioned his own gender ID and helped me recognize my own gender questioning.
Currently I see a good gender counselor and have done so for a year now. Due to family and work,  I am not ready to make the full leap into my brain gender yet slowly put the pieces of life into play to include minxset and recognition.  So much more to say but will end here and in gratitude for this forum and people!
Hugs all
Ronnie

Big welcome to Susan's Ronnie

I think that many of us in your age group are caught up in lives that make it hard to unravel ourselves.

Its good that you are seeing a therapist already, certainly benefiting you.

I look forward to seeing you about the forum's.

Thanks all for the welcome. Katrina..you made an excellent point about many of older transitioning people. Growing up in the 60s and 70s was not a good atmosphere to be gay , much less transgender.  I recall confiding to my Mother about my gender feelings in the late 1960s only to be told I was not one of those kind of people. Agggrr. Further expanding on this, being told one would have 2 strikes against them, being transgender and deaf would make life very hard. True and living a lie for decades hurts. Thankfully times are changing!!
I am fortunate to have a counselor that is older and married to a transgender spouse and knows well of the decades of hiding thus make for some good progress in our sessions. Life is good and best is being able to recognize and act upon this mindset. I have told my sister and she replied that she had known I was trans for many years and welcomed me.
Best of all is seeing and meeting so many older (and younger) gender aware people here!
Cheers
Ronnie
