"Ireland's progressive new gender recognition bill is set to head to Parliament tomorrow, for the final stage of debate prior to becoming law."
"The bill, which is one of a number of landmark LGBT reforms set to become law in Ireland this year, will tomorrow head back to the upper house (Seanad) for the Report and Final Stages."
And it's now been passed! Yahoo! :D
This is really huge. It's different that a lot of other bills in other places, in that they take our word for it that we're trans. We don't have to prove it or have doctor to sign off on it.
A month ago Ireland were behind the times, now they've embraced same sex marriage and have put England to shame by allowing self determination, I wholeheartedly applaud their efforts to show acceptance to all under the LGBTQI umbrella
^ +1 I give it 10 years tops till the UK follows suit ^_^
In the meantime even with a doctor's notice ohio won't change anything. I hope that changes before I have my surgery. It will be probably 2 years at least. I'm going to try to get on the list after I get my name changed.
What I find significant is no bickering. President Michael Higgens is expected to sign the bill before the end of July.
Wake up America!
