Title: Trans friendly jobs Sydney?
Post by: mycelestialarchangel on July 17, 2015, 04:51:38 AM
Okay so where I currently work is dodgy as fudge.  By that I mean I don't get pay slips, haven't signed a contract,  get no lunch break, and am paid regular pay even on weekends when it should be time and a half.

It'd be nice to move on to a job where I also can identify as a male from the beginning.

So... Does anyone have a list of transfriendly employers in Sydney by any chance?

Mainly retail because that's what I have experience in,  but really just anything full-time that's morally just and will get me $700 a week [emoji14]

It's against the law for any employer in NSW to discriminate against you for being trans. If you can demonstrate you are the best candidate for the job then you should get the job. That said, some employers will find work arounds as excuses. If you're into retail you should look at some of the larger retail stores (especially around the city/inner suburbs) since they are less likely to be dodgy because it would be a PR nightmare for them. Don't know what kind of salary you are likely to get though... I wouldn't have thought retail pays all that much unless you're management.
