To be more precise after surgery how many days u are unable to move from bed? 3~? Is the pain strong enough to prevent you from falling asleep? And the main thing that gets my mind boggling ( peeing is not a problem I saw from pictures u get silicone straw thingy to pee ) how the hell do u take a poop if you cant move from bed.  ???

From what I have read it all varies greatly from surgeon to surgeon. I think it was day 3 I was standing, I found it very difficult, had a walking frame with drips, pee bags, and blood bags attached too. I was on a low residue diet, my bandages completely covered everything down there, so you just don't poop for about 5 days.

Pain was that bad I, did get up to an 8 out of 10 at one point but usually it's like 3 or 2 just on panadols.

The only thing that will stop you from sleeping is the nurses constantly checking your vitals and giving you pills, changing, drip, emptying jugs etc. you get 6 hours to max between being woken.

If you know where you were wanting to get srs there's probably someone that can give you a more accurate description of that particular place.

Well here are a few stories:

Concerning pooping, most people make a bowel cleansing before srs... drinking clear liquids, and meds to have the digestive tract cleared...

after srs many people are allowed only liquids for a few days...

hugs

How about the dilating. I bet it had to hurt like hell for first time and I suppose it was very awkward to see how doctor show u how to do it properly...

I was not permitted to move for the first 3 days. That was the worst part of the whole thing. The pain was manageable, but it was hard not moving.

On the third day, I got out of bed. It was difficult to move around because I had all sorts of tubes hanging off me, but I could walk, climb stairs, etc. I couldn't sit comfortable for about 4 months afterward though, but I've been told this is unusual.

Dilating was not uncomfortable at any point, except at the very moment that the larger dilator went in. There was a sort of stretchy feeling, but nothing I couldn't deal with.

Dilating with my surgeon seems completely different than every where else, it's a bit worrisome. We have custom made foam rolled tight, put in a unlubricated condom, squeezed to to get all the air out, twist the end, lube it and put it in. you leave it in 24/7 for 2-3 weeks after srs. (change the condom twice a day) it was the worst thing about srs so far. I am pretty squeemish, the nurses helped a few times but you have to rapidly learn.

I thought I'd be a bit bruised and bit red and stitches, but no it looked fairly horrifying.

I'm at 8 weeks now, I find dilating frustrating more than anything, I still don't know if I just suck at or not, but it doesn't just zoom in and then sit there reading a book for 30 mins, I just spent 50 mins, 20 on my no2 then switched to no3 for 30 mins. requires a fair bit of pressure, wait, back it out a little, slight rotation, more pressure. I still have a no4 to get to in the bag.

I had to go back and see my surgeon about the dilating 3 or 4 weeks after SRS and he managed to get all the way in 1 second, but that was 10/10 pain I screamed, there was blood when the dilater came out, he said was from the granulation that he was fixing as well (thats sorted itself out now after 2 silver nitrates)

I must have looked like a ghost limping down the road towards my car. An eldery couple came out of a hospital and walked past me and finally stopped a bit down the road, when I caught up to them and walked past them, the old man said smiled and said you won in the end.
Not painful just time consuming and frustrating.

I was walking by 18 hours post-op and climbing stairs at 48 hours. First shower (normal, standing up) at 5 days, unpacking and dilation at 6, catheter removal at 7. Dilation was fine, really; never more than a little uncomfortable, then or now, and by the time the nurse showed me how I was far past being embarrassed. The pain was about a 5 maximum on that 1-10 scale on the first day, dropped to 3-4 by day 2 and I was off all painkillers but regular Tylenol by day 3. By the time I went home on day 8 it was basically about a 1 unless I overdid it walking or plopped down in a chair too hard, and then  it would be sore for a while; that stage lasted for weeks. It was a "deep tissue bruise" sort of pain, too - it wasn't excruciating, more of an ache.

I did have excruciating pain from bladder spasms around day 3 or 4, which was apparently from the catheter irritating the bladder; I had to take oxycodone for a day or so to deal with that, but it was NOT because of the original surgery, and in fact the pain from my bladder was much worse than the GRS pain ever got. As I recall, that was the only pain that did keep me from sleeping (they did offer sleeping pills, but I didn't need them).

Since I didn't have general anesthesia, I bounced back faster from the actual surgery; I did wake up nauseous from the morphine + spinal but that wore off in a few hours.

I could walk half a mile and do household chores by the time I went home, but was exhausted for the first month and tired easily for months after that. (I'd say I could walk "normally" by around the time I left, and I took over a couple hours of driving to get home, too.) And it took me a year to be able to ride my bike. :) I *was* told not to lift over ten pounds for the first month and to avoid full-immersion baths (sitz baths were required) and swimming pools for 3 months.

I did have tremendous swelling - even the nurses were shocked - and that didn't go away entirely until, no joke, about a year and a half post-op. But I guess I was lucky in other respects, as there was no significant bleeding or bruising, so everything looked almost normal as soon as the bandages came off. Just... big from swelling. (I was also lucky that I had 100% sensation from the moment I woke up and was orgasmic in my sleep at 3 weeks post-op.)

As for pooping, I had two enemas beforehand plus the morphine causes constipation, so it wasn't a problem; in fact, they were far more worried about getting people TO poop afterward. Usually if you hadn't by about the third day they'd be pushing stool softeners. I was lucky and things, er, went fine on their own.

I went to Brassard, who does penile inversion, and I was 34 at the time.

Mine was ok, no real pain that I wasn't expecting, in fact it wasn't as bad (thanks to the drugs).

I did get sick, just the flu, but I only get sick maybe once every 3 or 4 years and that knocked me about. I lost a bit of weight and couldn't stay awake for more than an hour at the time, the doctors were a little worried.

Other than that I was fine, a few weeks after I was ready to get back into jogging, but was told to take it slow.

Hello, reality check here for those seeking SRS.  Yes it hurts a lot and recovery time and tasks can be long and daunting.  Pain killers are your new best friend. Learning Womanhood 2.0 was the most difficult part during the early days of my recovery.  There is a lot going on down there post-SRS.  I was very fortunate to have two women teach me the ropes.  Having a vagina definitely gives one an extreme appreciation for woman issues.  Joking about 'that not so fresh feeling' is not so funny when you live it.

58 days post-SRS and healing is going well.  Looks, feels right and works to specification.
No regret and happy to be on the plus side of my SRS date.  So looking forward to using it!

Thank you,
Anne
