Title: Questions about hospital

What happens if I go into the hospital for depression or the like, hypothetically? Just curious

People are not necessarily hospitalized for depression.  A voluntary inpatient program would be discussed and consented to by a patient.  Involuntary commitment varies by jurisdictions and available services but typically only if one is an imminent danger to themselves or others i.e. suicidal or homicidal ideation, catatonia, severe stuff....not likely for garden variety depression.

Without social or physical markers related to transition they would likely treat a person as cisgender.  There are all kinds of treatments available to keep depressed people out of the hospital.  I trust you are feeling OK?

My ex was hospitalized for depression recently. They spent a couple weeks finding meds that stabilized her mood. She also did some group work how to cope with all the stress on her life.

She certainly was in better shape afterward.

I looked back at your post and it appears you haven't started to transition. Depression and GD go hand in hand but it is possible to have depression independent of GD as well. If you seek treatment for depression, it would be helpful for the doctors to know about your gender status because it might have a bearing on the treatment they give you. It is also possible as you move forward in the transition the depression will clear and no longer require treatment. If the depression is interfering with your normal functioning, by all means seek treatment. Your GP should be able to provide you with a place to go for help.

I was hospitalized for a suicide attempt, and then put into a "rehabilitation" type institute for a week, and just got out a week ago.

I was in there because my father died one month ago, and that mixed with constant dysphoria and anxiety made it unbearable. I was ready to quit. But now I'm taking it one day at a time.

I still can't begin transition either as I live with my Aunt, and she won't have that. I'm only 16 so I'm not financially strong enough to pursue hormones, or to begin transition myself.

Life is fun.

It's not GID related. I'm fine

I lost my job of 20 years and my physical ability to work was getting  greatly impaired and I had other problems which eventually I realized were due to Dysphoria , but that was discovered a year after I lost my job. I seriously was at the end. I went to the hospital to ask for help and they put me in a program for extreme depression and suicide ideation . That was 2.5 years ago I I'm doing good.
