Although I use the term, "Non-Hetero-Normative" . . . a term from Dr. Judith Butler, Ph.D. Berkeley
Ten, not twelve!

True. But I'll bet there are more than 12
I've come across this before. I like most of them. I'm not sure we're always reasonable about the pronoun thing. It's a lot to expect people to people to take words they rarely hear and quickly and effortlessly work them into speech. Some people's minds are less plastic than others, and I wish we could be compassionate and empathetic about that fact.
My favorite has to do with the assumptions that we're being unique and political, when we're just trying to be ourselves.

Reminds me of the slogan, "the personal is political."
For us trans people, simply existing is political, because according to the prevailing ideology, we don't exist. (And non-binary people doubly so.)
This reminds me of a conversation I had recently with an old friend. We have a great Sunday Market here and it is a fun place to browse, shop, and eat. We always run into friends and neighbors as this is a small rural town area. He insisted that my reason for going was to "show yourself off." Huh?? He then accused me of being coy when I would not acknowledge his simplistic mischaracterization. No doubt I do get attention but that is only avoidable for me by staying home.
Celebrating diversity by walking tall and proud can be a political statement in itself and enough to get some people in a lather, apparently. The newly elected leader of our local Q Center commented, " I'm not going to be small so someone else can feel big." Shine on folks, let em gawk!
Hello everyone that article was good read, as I identify as gender-fluid/bi-gender this really speaks to me. Unless if you are bi-gender/gender-fluid you will never know the struggle while there are many genders with my gender are male and female and it is a daily struggle to keep the two genders happy. I have come to live with this although lately the female side is presenting more and more.
