I'm really on a weight loss kick right now, and I don't want to 'bulk' up as it were so I'm afraid to do any weight lifting. Do I need to start taking hormones so that as I tone up I'll look more femmine? Or does all that require surgery;etc?
I would appreciate any advice.
Hi again Funnygurl,
Weights won't bulk you up if you use light weights with lots of reps. Ask a trainer for a programme if you're worried. Personally I would concentrate more on cardio - e.g. cycling, walking, running, swimming....
My question to you is what would be your desired end point in all of this? Are you a transexual wanting to transition, a cross dresser just looking to be more feminine? Do you want to pass as female or just feel more feminine? Do you feel dysphoria? Are you a male inside, female or something else?
These are serious questions as I think the way you go about changing yourself depends on what your desired end result is and how much discomfort you have with your birth sex.
I think I read in your introduction that you want to be more feminine, and your profile says you identify as having male gender. You said you are new to all of this. What this says to me is that perhaps you need to do some more investigating before jumping into anything you will regret later. Hormones are not things you take lightly. They will change your body in ways that are ireversible and can be a major health risk (blood clots, stroke, organ failure to name some..).
There is no reason why you can't start dressing now in private. At least this is an easy way to start exploring your feminine self and find out what you really want. Don't let weight stand in your way, at least it is easier for you to create your own clevage. My advise is to talk about it, read about it, meet other TG people, go to TG groups, maybe visit a councillor or gender therapist.
Happy trails..
What I did is pretty much cut carbs out all together. I lost alot of extra weight this way. Occasionally I'll let myself go and have a burger or pizza. I think in the long run HRT will help get rid of these muscular shoulders, which loss of weight has not helped at all. I can see my ribs on the sides, and have a 27" waist. My "manpants" are really really loose on me now. :eusa_dance:
By the way, over the weekend I tried the "lemon diet" that is supposet to "cleanse" your system. You drink nothing but lemon juice, water, tree syrup, and cayenne pepper. I could not stand eating solid food. Today I felt weak and absolutely horrible. Went back to eating. That diet is NOT recommended, didn't loose a pound. :eusa_naughty:
Your right Nick' (may I write it that way?) I got a little carried away. I have been checking out this site and others for at least the last two years and even though I have been feeling the way I feel since childhood I finally decided to do 'something' about it. I appreciate your advice!!! Thank you so much.
And 'Christine' thank you too!!! By the way I did try that lemon thing way back in 1991, and had the same result=0(
I'll keep ya all posted. Thanks again.
Totally understand about getting carried away. No worries. After being in a box for so long you just want to run and run and run.
Pretty exciting time eh?
exciting and I'm scared to death all at the same time...that normal? hope so. I have a long way to go and I'm so glad that this web site exsists. I have gotten all kinds of info. including a TG support web site here in phoenix, Az. with lists of counselors. I don't know when I'll take that step, but I'm glad to see that it's here.
Hope to talk @ ya later!!
p.s. i love "emily strange" too, can't tell ya how much i love that comic.
