Post by: Ryan22 on August 06, 2015, 06:03:51 AM
Hey,

I am just wondering if anyone know a good surgeon/s in Australia who can shave down the adams shave down/fix a chin and jaw line and fix a nose?

I am struggling to fine one who can help.

Hi Ryan I also tried finding someone in australia at first. But I couldn't find anyone who specializes with trans women which is why I decided I will go overseas. I believe it's better to see someone who is firmly at with doing the work instead of a one off kinda thing. Sorry I know this isn't much help if your looking for someone in australia.

Hi,

I'm not sure if the Cranio-Facial team at the RAH do any work on trans*women. They are certainly expert in the area. I think the lead surgeon is Dr David Day, it may be worth googling and emailing them.

Hi,
You could try Dr Ian Carlisle in Melbourne.  He does FFS procedures but I don't know how much.  I consulted him mainly to get an in-person opinion which was worthwhile even though I headed overseas.  He did not recommend much and what was recommended was just the FFS stuff (nose, eyebrow lift and orbital rims), not any other cosmetic improvements such as face lifts which form more of the cosmetic surgery offering and that I had done as well.

Hello,
just this week I saw a surgeon in Adelaide associated to the Cranio Facial team.
they did say they have done the procedures you mention for people in the same situation as myself  and yourself(the issues I said that I had with my face are virtually the same as what you mention) before.
my reasoning for going to them is that they are local they are specialists in the face and bone structure so should now what to see and look for in a persons face.
I am afraid of going overseas for such an invasive surgery and long plane trip back (20+ hours for facial tem, 14+ hours for Thailand).
the surgeon is supposed to be referring me to the full cranio facial team so I can let you know how it goes with them.
I really don't know what to do myself though, ultimately the surgeries individually should be standard surgeries for a specialized cranio facial team, but it is something you want to get right for yourself the first time and done only once.
I really don't know how to approach having such a surgery in a place where I don't know what would happen if surgery had complications or if I had to go back a few months later for one reason or another.
I can let you know what happens if/when I meet them (most likely 2 months)...it will most likely leave me more confused as to what to do than ever before :(

Isn't it really expensive? I did some quick googling around some time ago and it was a few thousand for just the trachae shave. :/
