I have had a top rated Denmark insurance policy, originally under IHI (International Health Insurance) now bought by BUPA but still based in Denmark, I have had this policy for over 25 years. I wonerif it is legal for the policy , in view of recent changes in their laws on TG, to exclude any cost related to sex cahnge including medication, surgery and therapy. Does anyone have any information or can they refer me to a Law Firm in Denmark?
I sure sounds dodgy if they're shafting you, especially given the length of time you've had the policy. But it is an health insurance company, shafting customers is their middle name. Hope you find the help you're looking for.
Thanks Grace. Clearing up my old life when we are older transitioners has so many road bumps. I have asked for a new policy to reflect the change in Denmarks laws, lets see. They have initiated a non discriminatory TG law in Denmark in 2013. But knowing insurance companies they will try their best not to pay.
I am aware that Private insurance companies including BUPA are now classifying trans surgery under 'psychiatric' conditions, which many of us do not have as an inclusion. This is just a nasty evil tactic to stop them from paying for what we joined for, and of course against all medical and psychiatric opinion.
Thanks Cindy, just spoke to the agent and asked for a new policy that reflects all the recent changes in laws and the various takeovers. I refused to join the UK BUPA and along with a selected group we are still part of the Denmark organization. I will let you know as I may have to seek legal representation.
