Title: Help?💜(Life is Strange.....sometimes)
Post by: DarkGoth4 on August 17, 2015, 08:52:54 PM
So....I'm not on meds yet and I'm 18, and I'm wondering, how do I get or find a therapist? Also which would be better for breast growth and facial feminization? Patches, Pills, Injections, or Pellets? Hmm... Maybe a butt too lol. I'm very fearful about needles and I've never taken a pill before. Hugs and thanks for all types of responses.

As far as getting a therapist it depends on where you live and what insurance you have. It can very from case to case. Some go to clinics that specialize in trans care others require referrals from there doctors to get a referral to the therapist so they can be see. Sometimes you just need to locate one and schedule an appointment with them. Regardless of which route you will want to locate a clinic or gender therapist that you want to see. Results very for each of us when it comes to hormones so one person may get great results from one type, but another may not. I started out with patches, but they were a bust for me and then the endo switched me to injections which I have had great results from. Regardless of which route though mileage can and does very. Hugs

Voice has two options, therapy and surgery. If you decide on surgery, therapy will still be needed so you are best to have some therapy before deciding on surgery. In my case, I was unable to hit the female range because my voice was very low so my only options to reach the feminine range was surgery. There is a good section about the subject on the forum but feel free to ask any questions you might have.

HI Dark goth,

I think everybody is different so it varies what works the best for you.  I think most people start out with pills.

I've been taking T-Blockers and E for about 5 months now in pill form.  The T-Blocker pills are yuck but E pills taste kinda good.  Changes are pretty subtle over time but I have had some small amount of breast development, loss of muscle, and a small amount of fat redistribution to my butt.

I haven't tried anything else so I can't really say, but I've heard good things about injections.

I think most people can adapt to speaking with a higher pitch and more feminine tone.  The best place to start is with a speech therapist for voice, as that will probably be far less difficult than voice surgery.  I don't think hormones make a difference if  your voice is already low, but I think a lot of your vocal cords is how you speak from day to day will effect it, so if you start going up in pitch slowly, it will be easier to raise your pitch than if you try to force it.
