So, I'm pre t but I have a lot of leg hair below the knees but above the knees it gets much shorter but not necessarily sparser... It's just it goes from like an inch to a centimetre. But behind my knee there is a lot and up the very top inside of my thigh it is longer too. Oh and on the outside of my lower leg it is much sparser. Is this from idk trouser legs rubbing on it?! Or does hair just grow like that? I mean I've looked at my dad's legs and I have more leg hair than him because he just has little patches of leg hair. Is that from idk age or trouser legs rubbing on it or something or does body hair just grow weirdly. My toes have lots of hair ahah it's funny. The thing that annoys me is how blond all my body hair is, but I guess since I'm blond it is understandable.
I have one super long arm hair that is like an inch long but the rest of the arm hair is really short. Oh, I have a happy trail but it is super blond. The chesticles are like super hairy and it's long visible hair and some of it is quite dark. Oh and my chin and neck has like 3 hairs that are long and visible.
So yeah idk where I was going with this.
Wooo body hair.
Idk am I normal?
Oh and my dad is like a literal gorilla on his upper body, when I start on t will I also get super hairy? Because if I have gross back hair(like his entire back is covered in really long dark hairs and he looks like a literal monkey) and stuff then I think I'll do something about that.
I don't want to become a monkey because hair tickles and I am autistic and I have sensory issues and idk where I am going with this. I'd probably get used to the weird sensation of being a monkey anyway, I guess.
So yeah, body hair, amirite everyone?
Depends on your genetics. Bear in mind you have two parents, so there's also a 50% chance you'll inherit your hairiness from your mother's family.
I think some leg hair sparseness may be due to trousers rubbing, but some of it could be genetic. My elder brother & I both have hairy legs apart from the backs of our calves; my ex has hairy everything. We all wear the same kind of stuff.
I'm now almost 2 years on T and my body hair is still developing. My abdomen, chest, shoulders, arms, thighs and back are now much hairier than they used to be, and whilst I too am blond the hairs have thickened and darkened over the years. On average, those hairs are about 20-30mm in length, particularly on my belly.
I'm also on the autism spectrum and I can tell you that whilst the extra hairiness feels weird at first, you do get used to it, and the same is true with facial hair. It's kinda like wearing a ring: at first it feels odd & a bit irritating to wear a ring on your finger, but then it just becomes a part of you.
I have to say, body hair is a wonderful thing. I sometimes find myself sitting & stroking my belly hair, like Blofeld but without the cat. ;D

I've had the freaky one arm hair really longer than the others. The skin around it looked fine and I pegged it to a random occurrence since I only saw it once.
Genetics and nationality definitely play into how much hair you will get. Pre T, I had dark hair below the knees, but no visible hair on my thighs. It took a couple years, but my thighs did finally fill in with fairly thick, dark hair. The hair between my naval and pubic hair too a while to start coming in as well.
I'm light skinned, fair complexion, so there is no real visible hair on my chest over two decades post T. The hair on my forearms became darker and longer as did the hair in my pits.
What ever you wind up with, you will come to terms with. I can't grow a full beard that looks decent, while another guy I knew had a full, thick beard. It bothered me at first, but looking around at cis guys, they had varying hair growth as well. Since it isn't something you can control, try not to worry about what you may or may not grow.

I'm wondering the same thing, but like everyone has said, it's genetic. I'm looking forward to growing more hair, with either side of the family I think I'll do well too, I just hope I'll be able to grow a beard. About those patches on legs, my dad has one of those on his leg. He wore skinny jeans too much as a kid, so it rubbed off all the hair on his ankle on one leg (permanently). Hah, it's kinda funny, but he doesn't mind. Lesson learned: Don't wear skinny jeans.
There's a ton of natural variation in body hair. Hormones, genetics, gene expression, and scarring/skin damage all play a role.
I'm pre-T as well, and looking forward to facial hair. I think I've got good genes for it, since my dad and my maternal uncle both have good beard-growing capabilities... here's hoping.
i am not autistic, but i'm not a fan of body hair, though i am extremely hairy and need to manscape every month or two. i've always been more hairy, but now 9 months on t, the hair has increased; t helped fill in areas and made hair darker.
i got this a few days ago and it's really nice. you can adjust the height that you'd like your hair to be and it works well.
*i do the 1 guard for my upper legs and the 2 guard for my lower legs and armpits.

I'm the same with my legs. Below the knees it's super long and dark, but my thigh hair is a lot shorter and more sparse except for on the inside. I think having a lot of hair on the inside of your thighs is a normal thing though. One weird thing about me is on my stomach, like near my bellybutton, the hair is completely black even though I'm blonde.
My dad is also insanely hairy, except it's all over his body. Obviously changes are still happening, but I have been on T for a while and I'm not nearly as hairy as him. However, I do take after my mom's side a lot more so I don't know if that's a defining factor. In the end it's really all up to genetics and the only way to find out is to just wait.
I'm also pre-T and already quite hairy, I'm a little worried I'll get super hairy when I go on T (not really a fan of body hair) and if I do I'll prolly do something about it. But it all comes down to genetics, really. My dad is quite hairy but my brother's aren't, and we've all inherited more traits from our mum than our dad, so maybe I get lucky.

your hair is determined by the men on your mom's side of the family
I can't help much but agree with the others on genetics
but i wanted to say, im autistic as well and hair will feel so bad wierd! I might even end up shaving it sometimes >_< you're definitely not alone there.
Back when I was messing around with female hormones, I noticed my hair started to grow in patchy and not at all in some spots. Since getting back on natural T supps, it's slowly started to grow back more uniformly, but it took a while. My toe hair (not to be gross) pretty much stopped growing for years, but now it's back again and the longest I've ever seen it (which I could honestly do without). I doubt anything you wear will affect hair growth much unless you're wearing tight high socks every day or something (or I'm sure some people have more fragile hairs).
Hair can grow differently for any array of reasons. Some people will always have patchy hair, sometimes it's just patchy until it become full adult body hair, and some people never move past peach fuzz.
I think the general pattern of body hair is that its longer and thicker on the forearms and lower legs in both men and women, although in men the hair and the skin is thicker still. I figure that, as it's a remnant of when we were much furrier, the hair on those body parts was probably thicker there for protective purposes, just like the skin is thicker there too and hurts less on those parts when you get a tattoo or something. Those parts of the arms and legs take a lot of general wear and tear compared to the rest of the body. They'll always grow longer hairs... but the rest of your distribution will be genetic/family influenced.
I'm not a fan of body hair, but I stopped shaving the arms and legs a while ago to see how it grew out... since I hadn't seen it since my early teens. I'm not on hormones or anything yet so whatever grew out was just what my natural state and some of the hairs on my forearms are like 2cm long. Lower leg hairs are closer to 2.5 or nearly 3cm. The only difference now between me and my cis male bf's legs are that his hair has a coarser feel to it and seems "curlier" on the legs, whereas mine is straight/fine and light in color. If I start taking T I may end up far hairier than him, as he's only got the leg and forearm fur... the rest of his body is very naturally smooth and almost hairless (no hairy chest/back).
I don't think the men in my family are super-hairy so maybe that won't be my fate, but I'm already almost as hairy as my bf so who knows. If I don't like certain parts growing hair I'll just shave it probably. I still have a thing about keeping shaved pits...
I'll agree and say pretty much everyone, regardless of gender, I know has hairier calves and forearms than they do thighs and biceps/triceps. I've been on T for almost 5 months and my leg hair has definitely gotten thicker, both upper and lower. My inner thighs and general pubic area have also picked up a lot of hair growth.
Genetics are straight up your only predictor; you can't make yourself hairy or hairless on a whim (without waxing or whatever). Remember, as trans guys, we are biologically dealing with two x chromosomes and are gonna get genetic influence from both parents. In my case, the men on both sides of my family are relatively hairy, so I'm growing hair a little quicker than I had anticipated. There are a bunch of light, but dark hairs sprouting up around my belly button and in the "treasure trail" area.
If you're hairier to begin with (pre-t), chances are you're gonna get furry while on T. Its just something that happens, and as much as people say "I don't like body hair," when it does start coming in, its super exciting because you feel like things are going right.
While not being a huge fan of body hair, I appreciate that things would be going right while on T and if I get furrier, so be it.
It was difficult at first after years of shaving meticulously... I really hated any kind of body hair at all on me but part of that was not wanting to have people ridicule me for being hairy while "also female". I think that started in school when girls started shaming other girls who hadn't shaved recently enough in their almighty opinion, and I had enough issues in school as it was so I shaved to make sure they didn't have anything to say about that.
Funny how after I finally accepted that I was not a female, no matter what anyone was gonna say about it, how easy it was to no longer care about growing the fur back. For a few months it was difficult, the habit to keep shaving it off kept occurring to me but I was determined not to get rid of it and see what I'd look like in my natural state. Now I don't even care. It's a good feeling to wander about my furry legs out on the beach and not give a flying ->-bleeped-<-.
I guess I ended up lucky with body hair pre-t, since I have a lot, and it's black against my pale skin too, on my legs and arms, and I have a sort of 'happy trail' naturally, quite a bit of chin hair, and thick brows. I'm just worried about growing hair on my chest and back when I start T. D:
