Just wondering if anyone wears toe nail polish with boots or closed toe shoes.(disclaimer not meant as anything other than a curious question , no harm intended to anyone) . I use to wear polish all the time , but because of my arthritis I have a hard time with panty hose and polish on my toes. I can wear fish net because they are easier to put on , a lot more flexible then Legs . I'd like to wear polish on my toes , but its just too hard for me.
I think color is fun year round. I do notice that some sandals can rub it off in places and then we play touch up. But it is so fun to just be another imperfect girl out and about with polish :D
I know, yesterday the barista at the coffee shop said she liked my nails even though the polish was chipped. I usually cover the entire nail , but the polish came off half the nail . It looked like the way some girls wear it with it centered in the middle leaving top and bottom of the nail uncovered.. It didn't look bad.
I like to polish mine no matter what time of year. I just like the way it looks, even if it is just for me to see.
That being said: I'm *much* lazier about keeping up with it during colder months.... "ohhhhh wow, that's really looking pretty worn and needs touched up..... They'll make it another day!" ::)
....Kinda like keeping legs shaved in the winter haha
Of course. I don't wear nail polish for others I wear it for me. I don't care if nobody else will see it.
I where nail polish all year round. My finger nails had a break for about the last month, but my toe nails were still polished during that time. Hugs

I polish my toenails all the time. I don't like sandals so no one ever knows except for me. I do my fingernails most of the time but they are bare for the moment awaiting a new color and I can't decide which to use.

yes I do polish my toe nails during winter, In winter i mostly polish with a clear polish with a white tip (french mani). I think it makes my toes look nice and feminine. I dont really do colors on my toes during winter as i found it comes off too easy when I wear boots and I love wearing boots, especially knee high boots with a nice heel.
In summer, i paint my toes in colors, as i wear mostly open shoes in summer. My fav colors, blue, green, red and maroon. I even wear a toe ring on one toes on each foot. The polish again makes my toes look feminine.
My hands, I almost always have nail polish on, the same fav colors as my toes or just a french mani.. sometimes even some nail art.
Since I wear size 11s and not all of them are made equal, a few of my boots squish my toes until I break them in a bit. Because of that, I typically keep my toe-nails trimmed and polished to blunt them in winter even though I put my sandals away for the season. Plus, I love getting mani-pedis
I used to have a bad picking habit, but keeping my nails polished and blunted prevents me from falling back on bad habits.
I just started polishing my toes. Currently wearing a metallic purple. It is a fun color.
As a previous poster mentioned, I just wear it for me. I would like to wear more sandals because A)It is still hot out where I am, and B) I would like to be more open about being trans.
That being said, does anyone have a color they go to? Or maybe a brand? I'm debating on getting a black polish for myself.
I get my polish from Target. From 1.99 -10.00 and nice colors. They have just about everything.
Yes, I wear polish on my toes year round and have since years before I transitioned. Prior to transition, I would keep my toes polished so I could at least have a little feminine touch without the rest of the world seeing. It's probably been at least ten years since I haven't had nail polish on my toes.
No I don't bother...I'm lazy as hell especially in the winter when nobody sees the toes lol. I mean I keep them nicely trimmed and whatnot but polish in the winter is horrid!! I love the dark shades but without fail I'll get smooshes from sock stitching or from where pointy toe boots pinch the tie against the boot. Sooo frustrating I just gave up. Kid that way if I do get to go out and wear open toed shoes, I won't have to scrape off the mess and start over, I can just paint and go :)

Always toenails. Nobody but me knoiws!
Heck yeah! It's just as nice to look at them in the winter as it is in every other season!
I think I need to start painting them again
Most definitely, since the age of about 13. It was something I was always able to get away with, stealthily, unless one was going swimming. Now at 37 and even in full guy mode I KEEP them polished. For the last 10 years I haven't let a whole week go by with out some kind of polish on my toes. I even wear "women's" sandals showing off my polished toes in various styles up to 3".
I usually wear clear polish on my toes.
The only people that know are those that go to my yoga class. They're pretty laid back.
My teacher has a very good idea that I'm trans which is great because she speak to me like she would to another woman. :)

I do! Mind you, where I go for the winter it is warm. It is shorts and flip flops most of the time (well when I don't have tennis shoes on!)
my toes seem so far away and tend to look like a 5 year old painted them, but I keep doing it, as for my fingers off and on my whole life, constantly in the last year they do get very chipped with my job and if I wanted them to stay looking good I would have to redo them 2-3 times a week instead its a weekly thing with me talking myself out of doing them when there only a little messy. My nails have also been breaking more lately, likely it has to do with hormone therapy. I guess I can trade my long perfect nails all the girls envy for boobs. :-)

I gave up on nail polish years ago. The solvent in the nail polish and the remover was causing my nails to crack and split so I stopped wearing polish. I do wear my nails shaped but not long because I work with my hands a good deal and longer nails break. It's really bad when I have a week of trap shooting because handling the ammunition breaks nails and after a week, I am luck to have any figures without broken nails.
I gave up on letting my nails grow because of breakage plus the new style is short at least amongst the college kids in my area.
I paint my toes and nails even though I only own closed toe shoes, and my job constantly messes up my fingers. The actual doing of it is a calming experience for me, and I just find that it gives me a zen time. I also ALWAYS get complimented on the work, and color choices, and more than once someone wanted to know where I got them done...heh. Maybe it's just them being nice, building up my ego, but I'll take it!
I am currently wearing Sally Hansen's Insta-Dry "Black To Black" color on my toes. I love it! It makes me feel very feminine and right.
Another poster mentioned how wearing polish is just for them and no one else. I agree with that 100%! :-)

Hi Sarah Marie,
Is that the colour black or does it relate to something else?
I've never worn anything other than red or pastel shades.

Ack, sorry JS UK, I didn't see your reply.
To answer question, yes the "Black to Black" polish is a black color. I really like it!
I'm going to go for the black next, all the students around here are into the black.
I'm going to do my toes black tomorrow. Currently, they are red right now. I like it. Pretty sassy!
Is it already winter? I tend to wear flip-flops all year, except on the few days it drops below freezing (seriously, rain runs through flip-flops and I couldn't be happier). Honestly, I've been keeping my nails painted because a few paint jobs back, my nails got dyed pink by some purple polish. Also, two of my nails have been damaged in the past so they have cracks & crevices that I can't get the polish out of. Long story short, my toenails are always painted because they're very ugly without the polish.
Even if I wore shoes, I'd wear the nail polish. It's fun, it's for me.
As was said, I wear polish for me
I wear nail polish year round. I started going in and having a pedicure when I can afford it. I only pay $25.00 for the pedicure and that is with Gel. My last pedi was about 5 1/2 months ago and my nails still look very good. I have had a problem with my fingernails splitting and chipping. A gel polish helps, but I also discovered using false nails. People don't even realize that my fingernails are fake. I was surprised at how natural they look.

I don't wear nail polish. Only very occasionally and even then it's a clear one.
[pre-hrt] I usually keep my toenails painted. Besides I always wear athletic shoes when out so I can see them only at home. Right now they are a light sheer pink.
My nails are done for me and have a pedi done every three weeks.
I had a ingrown toe nail prior to starting with pedicures while over the course of several months the person performing this pretty much had the ingrown nail to virtually go away.
It's nice to pamper yourself in small ways such as this and there should be no fear as men also go in for this too, just not colors. Many nail salons are (at least in my area) oriental which are far less judgemental to clients. I started going to this place as a male and zero issues. When I started my RLE they were supportive and now treat me like a average female.
Any ways going to a salon is a great experience and would recommend trying it at least once.
Oh me, pretty feet are so important!!! I wish I could post a pic of my new so cute sandals from newchic.com & my so nice red toes. Our feet & toes are so important to make us all feel better about ourselves. Good luck girls, look pretty please. Make the most out of yourself.
Not currently, but I love painting my finger nails!
I have quite a wide variety of colours and sometimes mix and match them o:
My toes are painted all year long and my fingernails just on special occasions since my artwork career is hard on painted nails.

I always paint my toes, and I tend to grow my fingers longer, but then break them, so have to trim them down and start over. I live in Florida, so open toe shoes pretty much year round if I want to show them off!

I wear toe nail polish all year. I choose my colour when I go for a pedicure (every 3 weeks) and stay with that colour for the 2 weeks when I just get a manicure. I also have a French tip over the colour on my toes.

Almost 12 for me.
My toenails have been painted since the day after I told my doctor I thought I was trans in january. It was like giving myself permission to do more. I have also been shaved below the neck since then. Finger nails is another matter as I am still very much in the closet for now.
Hugs,
Jeanette
Not as regularly during winter. But we do get ourselves polished nails some. We both mostly paint for each other and they look so cool in the shower that the morning starts off with a glow!
My toes are always adorned with polish.
In fact my daughter does them for me.
Sometimes just color and other times she does intricate designs.
The girls at work love my painted toes.
