Title: Any musicians?
Post by: Evlin on August 22, 2015, 04:01:23 PM
Just wondering if there was any musicians here,
I'm in a band and the rest of the guys in it want me to do the first show as who I really am, what do you think?

Of course you should. The purpose of a rock star is to be yourself absolutely 100%, as to inspire others to be themselves.

S'up, Evlin?

That's way cool wanting to do a show as your true self. See it as the beginning phase of your transition! ;D Its the initiation of freedom for you!

Uh...and not sure if this counts, but, I like to sing, rap, and write songs and $hit. Does that count? I wish I could play electric guitar. Got two of 'em and they just collectin' in da dust. Its not just cause I never seem to have time to practice. But also cause I ain't got all the stuff that will make it have that hard rock distortion. Yeah, bein' unemployed is a total bummer. Especially when livin' with a father who consistently misgenders me and refers to me as my at-birth name instead of my current name, Phoenix. Its even more annoying now cause I came out to the guy, bought him a book about transsexualism, and even asked that he at least call me a male-androgynous variant name based off of my at-birth name to make my life(and his) a little easier...but no! He is only focused on himself and rejected my request with a half-assed, "I'll think about it..." response as he sat his fat a$$ on his couch, watchin' da news, slouchin' and pretendin' to fall asleep...'bout the most childish crap I done ever seen a grown a$$ man do. Smh...

And yeah...sorry for the rant from Negatronville over here. :'( I don't even know where that came from. Lol.

Peace.

Hi Evlin.  I've been a guitarist for about 45 years now, and played professionally for a little over four years during my fire department career.  I still own eight guitars and three amps and am seriously thinking about gigging a little, even if its just to play out.

Yes, yes, yes ! You just have to do it, Evlin !  ( so sorry I'm shouting as I am a little deaf from post-gig ear whistle ! )

Paula, <3 X.

I have heavy chops  ;)

Thanks it's kind of a scary proposition but I will do it.

At lest I'm not going to be dressed like the guitarist in the band he wants to dress like mid 70's Rick Wakeman sparkely gold cape and all.

I'm saving my pennies for a Rickenbacker bass 4003 or 4004 I don't know and an out fit.

By all means, do it. I have a close friend who I haven't seen for years who recently came out in Florida. She plays the guitar very well and doesn't have what you would say "a female voice." She was always worried about that years ago. But now, she's completely out to the world and proud of her work. Some of her self performed compositions are quite good and I enjoy listening to her. She also has many musician friends who have opened their hearts to her in friendship. I'm proud of her and happy for her at the same time. I wish I were that brave!

I play cello in a symphony orchestra. I used to play electric bass in a rock band and I might pick it up again just for fun. I enjoy performing. I miss the singing part of it. The dudes have cornered the market here on singing in their correct gender!

Thank you, I'm working on losing some wight first as well.

The band I'm in is called Stone Dragon it's more the odd end of metal we just want to play what we like as loud, fast and intense as we can.

I've been a musician for as long as I can remember... According to my mother, I was borrowing her pots and pans to bash long before I got my first drum kit, then I later went on to be the drummer in several bands at college. I also play the piano, guitar and used to be a singer, though I've not really done much of this recently. As part of my own personal development after coming to the conclusion I'm genderfluid, I'm planning to go through my old tape archive and see if I can perhaps record an album of demos based on the best ideas as a way of finally closing this chapter - there's nothing worse than knowing I have good ideas wasting away in storage! Maybe one day soon I'll get around to starting work on this?
