"Leo, there's something that I need to tell you." Those are the first words from Judy, one of the main characters in BBC Two's new sitcom Boy Meets Girl.

Judy then informs Leo, her date, that she was born male. Except she puts it even more bluntly than that.

The opening scene of Boy Meets Girl certainly gets straight to the point. And the show, which starts on 3 September, could go down as a landmark series on British TV

Looks promising, I only hope we can see it here without too much delay. Hoping maybe PBS picks it up.

Sounds interesting, but seems confusing since there's the movie with the same name.

The trans star of a new BBC sitcom also revealed she was offered a headline role in a top TV show twelve years ago – but it was later scrapped.

"Boy Meets Girl star Rebecca Root was hired by casting directors on the hit medical drama Casualty.

She was set to play a trans woman who wanted a child with her male partner – but her big break never made it to screen
Show bosses – worried about how viewers may react – took the decision to rewrite the part to feature an infertile cisgender woman instead."

For once the media has made a non offensive comedy featuring a main character who's a trans person, played by an actual trans women, and it was made by the conservative bbc! I'm beyond pleasantly surprised. If you can watch it then please try too, it's on bbc iplayer and there's another 5 eps in this series. As a bonus you also have the trans women's mother shown as supportive and using the right pronouns for her :)

Me too, Elis!!!..........I was fully prepared to not like the show, `having spent these many past decades in dread-fear of any media coverage or programming of the gender identity issue; for so oft` has been the stereotypical and negatively-biased result.
However, I really enjoyed watching Boy meets Girl, and look forward to watching the characters and story being expanded upon over the forthcoming episodes.  ;)
