From what I understand, it makes things more difficult. The scrotal tissue will shrink without the testes. And the scrotal tissue is an important piece in the reconstruction process. There are some work arounds, but you close some doors.
On the other hand... no t-blockers.
Yes you can, BUT there are surgeons who will not touch you then because of the tissue loss and making it harder or requiring skin grafts. The testes stretch the skin more than you realize.
I agree that yes we can and some have. The caveat is to do some research on the way your preferred surgeon creates a neovagina. For some it is penile inversion and others do a graft from bowel tissue etc. A pre-op surgical consult is an essential part of planning IMO. There is also no cavity surgery to gain the gender conformity that could work for some of us. And then since this is really irreversible it seems wise to be as certain as we can of our motives, expectations and needs. some of us can change our minds as our transition progresses and then there is the reality of funding and availability. Lots of angles to consider eh?

Bilateral orchiectomy is not recommended prior to SRS, but is permitted. If the scrotal sac has been removed, the applicant must seek elsewhere to undergo SRS.
So in his case the answer is yes, but be careful.

Hi,
I had a consult with Dr. McGinn in March. I am ready for an orchi and am working on the second letter required.
She stated she makes the incisions at the exact location for GCS. She stated it is recommended if GCS will be in excess of 1 year. Also, that it had no effect on GCS if done correctly. Lastly, she said if it was done by someone else then she would explain to the surgeon exactly what is needed to not effect later GCS.
I will go to her ASAP.

That's pretty much exactly what I got out of Dr. Alter. I just stretch things out every time I take a hot shower to keep things loosey goosey. It's been a year and I haven't noted any shrinkage.
