I have my first appointment there tomorrow. I've looked on here for any examples of positive experiences, but didn't find much.
Anybody have any experience with them?
Like, how long does it take to get started with HRT, etc?
I haven't been posting here for a while, but since this is pretty much right up my alley... I started going to the U of M about 1 1/2 years ago, and overall I would say my experience was very positive. I was pretty nervous about how my first appointment would go since I had been self medicating for a while and I wasn't sure how they would react. But the way my therapist reacted was to give me a referral to see their Endocrinologist during my very first appointment. :) They generally do like you to have a few sessions before they give referrals for HRT, but they are also not fans of gate-keeping. And keeping someone who is self medicating from getting proper prescriptions and monitoring for what they are already taking really accomplishes nothing. My only real issue was that I experienced an unexpected change of therapists when my first therapist graduated from her post doctoral program (which I think due to an oversight was not a thing I was informed was going to happen), and that severely delayed the referral for an orchiectomy that I was working on getting. But other then that, I really liked both my therapists, and I have no regrets about going there.
Thank you so very much. I was hoping someone would respond before I went tomorrow. I needed a boost of courage, hoping to set out on the right foot... The 5 month wait was a long time, but it seemingly went by fast...
Good to meet a fellow Minnesotan on here
I also go there. The first couple of appointments consisted of intake and I am getting an endorsement referral soon. Very positive experience and they are real experts at assisting the trams community. Love them!
