Title: about to make a big step
Post by: jaybutterfly on September 02, 2015, 05:55:43 PM
decided now that to tackle most of my anxieties with the subject of my gender and how others will react, Im going to charge at one of the biggest ones hard. Im going to ask my mother, who I live at home with, if it will be ok for me to wear my girls clothes around the house while everyone else is out. I feel like I need to express my gender openly more, and its making me worse not being able to. In time, I hope to be able to tell my brother and father, and hope they can eventually accept this.

Hi jaybutterfly I hope You get the answer You need from Your Mum We all know how precious and necessary Time spent in Your preferred Gender clothing is Every moment counts .I had a similar situation with My Wife before I Came out as Trans I had told her about Crossdressing she was not happy but said as long as I don't see it  it's Ok So I was happy with that for a while but in the end  had to Go full time

well everyone, I asked and theres some good news and some bad. The rule is

1. No dresses, skirts, or anything blatantly girly

that said, girly jeans and tops are ok as long as its not obvious.

I guess thats something, for now, but I stll have friends who dont mind it, so anythings a plus at his point

I suppose that compromise always seems the hallmark of communal living, whether with family or housemates. It was good that your mum could move a little in your direction and that you could compromise with her. There is no shame in being sensitive to those around us and you never know, there may be some more inches to crawl in the future.

Hi jaybutterfly

I have the same Deal with My Wife .and I find it is working out not too bad .I still get to feel that I am a woman without causing any major upset to her .I know that everything I am wearing is female clothing and that is enough for now to ease my disphoria .I am slowly talking her around to allow some more girly items into my wardrobe Just take Your time and add the changes slowly .When We go out shopping I will pick out slightly more feminine tops or Jeans or slacks and ask her opinion and if I don't get an immediate that does not suit You I know that next time out I will be able to get myself something similar or I need to wait a little longer

Well done on having the hard conversation, that step is really difficult so big kudos to you!

Awesome, baby steps are good. Helps you get comfortable, helps others get comfortable. Eventually you may just have to say "stuff it" and do what you like, you don't owe anything to anyone regarding your presentation. But perhaps this can wait till you get a place of your own, there is no hurry yeah?
