Title: How about collections?

I think it's always interesting to go to someones home and view the things they collect. I like to hear where they got each piece and the storie behind them.

melissa, me also, when I was young I used to collect stamps & later coins - but haven't for many years now. Thou I guess I now collect plants-  I grow bromeliads & with buying & swapping  have a collection that is starting to strain my wifes patience (the space required for it keeps expanding, taking over more & more of our yard). She is starting 2 suggest I sell or give some away (I don't think she understands compulsions :)

"Stuffed animals (bears and the like)"
I am **SO** glad I am not the only one who calls them that. (I say stuffed critters technically)... I get some of the strangest looks sometimes until I explain.

Books, well you can **never** have to large of a library, though I probably don't qualify as a collector just an enthusiast.

I like the idea of collecting music boxes... perhaps someday when I've more room to my name ;)

I'll have to just cast my stone to the "Stuffed animals (bears and the like)" category though, I'm rabid about that but not the other things (=

I have collected coins since I was real little and still do. I collect a lot of things and yes I also collect dust. I do collect music boxes and love the ones with the globes. There was a music box store here in the mall and I use to buy two or three a year. That would depend on if I liked them or not. One of my favorites is Santa Claus music boxes. I have several. I love to collect bears too. I have got over a hundred in my home. Pat said that is way too many and she has threaten divorce if I buy another bear. I also have bear nik nacs, I kind of switched to elephants as Pat was not likeing bears too much. Oh and candle parties, don't let me near them. I love candle holders.

I checked stuffed animals, large stuffed dogs in particular, but I really don't know how many I have. I haven't added to my collection in years.

My newest fad, which isn't on you list, is to collect MEN! It is really much more fun!

Steph, Leal calls all my nik-naks "dust collectors".

Oh Brandy,

I really enjoyed watching the kites dance in the air in Michigan over Lake Huron. Leah and I both enjoy kites. Didn't think of collecting them though.

Jane,  on our Stairs (wide stairway),there are mostly three teddy bears to a step and there are 17 steps leading to the up stairs and then there are bunches of bears everywhere else too. I probaly have over 130 bears of all sizes and dress. Some are musical others readbooks with their paw. When ever you open the stairway door all the little bear eyes looking back at you one can't help but smile.

Hope you all had a Super Day!

Smiles to All,

Hi everyone,

I love reading and I have a very large selection of books.  I haven't read them all but one day I want to have a whole room arrayed as a library.

I also love jewelry.  I scour antique stores, garage sales and such to find old broaches and other type pieces that I make into very nice pendants.  It doesn't take very much skill to do this and these items are often very inexpensive.

happy collecting,

joanna

I too collect the broaches and necklaces. I use them as sun catchers in the windows and cast colors cross the room. Then at christmas I adorn our tree with them, it's really very pretty. Just started this about 3 years ago.

Mostly Dreamsicle Angels (http://www.willitts.com/search_function/productsearch.aspx?id=55&groupID=141#) as I have at least a couple dozen, and antique tins.

Also I have several hundred romance novels but don't know if that would qualify as a collection.

Faeries. The place is littered with them. Statues, glow-in-the-dark wall decorations, pictures... The walls are painted green. Dragonfly photos. Faery books. Faery jewelry. Faery music. It's a very faery place.

I still swear I'm actually trans-specied (a faery in mortal guise), not "just" transsexual. I think "transsexual" is the closest realistic approximation for the feeling my brain could come up with ("well ok, FINE, if I can't flitter about with gossamer wings, can I at LEAST be a girl? PLEEEAASE?")

I've chosen to not share this with my therapist, however. Shhhh...

Back when I worked for Kodak, I started to collect antique cameras.  I have several that are in good condition but, thanks to digital, I can no longer get film for them! :(

I also tend to collect books - often times they are a physical science book of some sort.  Climate Crash, Furious Earth, The T-Rex and the Crater of Doom, Rare Earth are among my favorites.

I used to collect guitars, or so I have been accused.

And if you looked at my classroom, you would swear that I collect piles of papers.  The stacks are heavy enough so that they are starting to distort the time-space continuium!

How about random notes I find anywhere I go?
Me and my sister have found some pretty weird, funny, and serious stuff doing this. One time I found a doctor's prescription note at my high school, a couple years back, that read: "-person's name here- is 28 weeks pregnant".

Used to collect stuffed animals when I was younger and I had a pretty good-sized collection of jewelry when I was girlier.

Now it's just CDs, comic books, and I guess I have a lot of video games too sitting around. Although I didn't buy them for the purpose of collecting.

books and cds, to the extent that I will miss meals, nights out or just go overdrawn for them.. got no room either. SO yes I collect them at my own detriment.
